According to @IPPRNorth 1} Between 2012/13 and 2022/23, total public spending: ➡️ Increased by 18 per cent in the North of England 📷 Increased by 25 per cent in the South East of England. This has been happening for a long time and still is. Currently it is HS2 and the Oxford Cambridge Arc.

All UK governments do this, resulting in the regions being denied stability. Centralisation is holding back the regional economies and the country's economy. yorkshirebylines.co.uk/region/elimi...

An excellent article on how Yorkshire should be governed by Philip Hardstone a Yorkshire lad from Batley with a lifetime of political experience. He has seen how centralisation has divided this country. Yorkshire needs the same powers and funding as Scotland. yorkshirebylines.co.uk/region/trans...

Politics isn't working. It's time to call time on the broken culture in Westminster and have a fresh start with a fair voting system. Add your name to @electoralreform.bsky.social's call to #MakeSeatsMatchVotes action.electoral-reform.org.uk/page/3782/pe...

Peter Sagar's article, "Towards a Devolved Assembly," published in the @NEBylines @YorksBylines, explores the structure and implications of devolution. The article delves into devolution, discussing how a devolved assembly could function in the North East. northeastbylines.co.uk/news/politic...

The Yorkshire Party supports proportional representation. it is true to say, doing away with first past the post not only addresses a fairness issue, but also means that all votes have the potential to count yorkshirebylines.co.uk/politics/fir...

The North East of England is said to be the most deprived regions of England. It missed a huge opportunity in 2004 to turn all that around, but it was denied this due to a misleading campaign. northeastbylines.co.uk/news/devolut...

They are talking about the North here. Most deprived areas suffer ten-fold bigger reduction In bus services cuts which in turn exacerbates deprivation. A regional parliament as proposed by the Yorkshire Party would put an end to all this. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Reopening the Skipton-Colne rail line is a vital test of regional devolution, promising more than just economic growth for the North | Colin Speakman

🐶 UK’s hidden crisis: abandonment epidemic facing man’s best friend Abandoned dogs overwhelm UK shelters as weak regulations fuel a welfare crisis – a revision of dog ownership and breeding rules is urgently needed By John Hall @johnfromyorkshire.bsky.social

Levelling up was a gimmick to secure votes. The system was flawed from the start. Regions need the power, secure fair funding and a regional system of governance for decisions that suit the region's needs. Westminster should keep out of it. @Yorkshire_Party www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Business as usual, London first and the South East. The North, well we can wait. Scotland is doing well and Wales, this is because they have their own regional governments. It is time the government gave meaningful power to the regions. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

🦀 Forgotten shores: the decline of the North’s coastal towns Many northern coastal towns are in decline due to loss of industry, poor investment and policy imbalances unlike thriving southern resorts By John Hall @johnfromyorkshire.bsky.social

Westminster's First Past the Post system blocks voters from getting the results they want. The Electoral Reform Society's new report: www.electoral-reform.org.uk/a-system-out...

That. The resettling - the forcing out of people the a (dare I say) ghetto, in which they're told they're safe, but in which they're then bombed... All very familiar to people who read history.

A joke maybe, but not funny for the neglected regions of England remote from London and the South East. We should end centralisation and empower the regions. Yorkshire for one, is a sleeping giant with much potential for growth. Regional elected Parliaments, fairly funded to kickstart the economy.

My article for @yorksbylines.bsky.social asking the question on where those disillusioned by the current @labouruk.bsky.social, go from here?
