Really any kind of rock music (especially indie and new wave) seems a lot more alive in the UK, its basically dead in the States

We do need a decent amount of foreign oil because America just doesnt have certain grades of oil anywhere on its landmass.
Thankfully we also print the currency that all worldwide oil sales are denominated in, so we just... buy the oil we need.

I wouldnt say that the idea of seperation of powers needs to be chucked in the bin, but it definitley needs some... refinements

Most of le Carre's leads being split between being broken little boys who just need to be truly loved and also so practiced in self deception they can never have a true relation with another human being has hit me pretty hard at points in my life

Secod volume has some extended and quite frankly racist thoughts about jizz music.

I guess its a little different if were going back to the Civil War, where even as senior as a theatre commander could still find themselves making relatively minor decisions on the battlefield.
Like Lee was effectively Con. CIC, and it also fell to him to say, "That tiny hillock? Take it now."

Man, Gilibrand going evil sucks so much.
I have no idea if the implementation as been any good (my hearts tells me probably not), but the military sex. assault bill was probably the biggest lift for any bill passed in the last ten years, and she got it done!! Wtf happened?!

and one thing she came up with is that the shekhinah evolves into a sort of "Right Hand of God" who can be invoked for protection or oaths (this is also why the Khazars are relatively gender equal).

Its good!! The Khazar Jews have managed to exist up to WW2 due to steampunk nonsense.
Your post reminded me, because the author tried to account for how Jewish theology would evolve in a steppe nomad context, www.amazon.sg/Book-Esther-...

Wait, this unlocked a memory in me, have you ever read the quasi-steampunk book about Jewish Khazars recruiting golems so that they can fight Nazis in an alternate history Stalingrad?

To make it even weirder, like half her Cabinet were incredibly horny for her, she was the ideal women for a very specific sort of Tory politician

Her longform articles for Liberal Currents are generaly excellent! Ive had her social media accounts blocked since 2019. They call this dialectics.

Its kind of funny how theyre still just doing the Vox schtick.
Like it just feels like there are less people than there were in 2015 who, a) will read a 1200 word article on the Yimby/Nimby divide, but are b) not plugged in enough to know what any of those words mean

This is due, from my understanding, to the fact that anti-Communism was extremely persuasive to the public, but ill admit ive only read a couple of general interest books from the era

Its only like 6 or 7 years between the end of Korea and US troops being in actual combat in Vietnam, right?
My point was is that the US public was willing to sustain combat operations for far longer and with far greater causaulties than we ever did during GWOT even with the draft
comment in response to
post
Im not really sure this is true. If you take the timeline between 1941 to when the draft was more or less ended, the US was more or less constantly at war overseas, with only breaks of a couple years in between each.
And the public was mostly supportive of these wars until the last few years of Nam

Fun fact, Depps lawyers got it moved to a Virginia court bc California law wouldve bared it being filmed. That alone probably won him the trial
comment in response to

The amount of people I know who watched hours of trial proceedings but couldnt tell me what the actual harm was (i.e. the Wash Post editorial) has kind of soured me on using jury trials for torts.

A very sad thing is that most Type B cluster personality types are downstream of some form of abuse, theres a real ouroboros of "need so totalizing it drives people away, which drives more need" that Ive never heard a good solution for

Folks, the nasty Democrats, theyre saying the Telugu version of Baahubali is the best, but we know the Tamil, the Tamil version is the best, we know, you cant beat it. Which is why we have to tarrif all Telugu and Marathi language movies this instant.

Kind of an underated point, but Ive always felt that the sound design and mixing in TPM is the only prequel that is on the level with the original trilogy.
Like, this scene is dumb as hell, but I remember being able to feel the holograph flickering sound in my chest when I saw it in theatres

I cant believe that total US casualties from Vietnam are in the 50-60000 range. Thats a war where the wounds arguably never healed and can still be felt. And the Russians are burning through that many troops EVERY MONTH.
