Some tools to detect a narcissist and escape. 1. Tell them "no" a few times and see how they react.
2. Correct about something (in front of others).
3. Make them the butt of a joke.
4. Tell them your boundaries or that they crossed them.
5. Tell them they're NOT special.

This has been the case since we came out of Covid!! I can remember January '23 stock holder conference calls and CEO's crowing about profit margins skyrocketing because of increased pricing structures to consumers following lockdown.
One such was Exxon/Mobile profit margins of 300% increases. 🤮
