#OntarioElection

It was with a mixture of shock and grief that relatives of two slain First Nations women faced reporters Thursday. The families learned Wednesday “potential human remains” had been discovered by searchers at the Prairie Green Landfill outside Winnipeg.

Reminder for Ontario residents who are eligible to vote and have yet to do so, please vote tomorrow! #OnElxn #OntarioVotes

Trans rights are human rights.

It's growing frustrating to see how many Canadians don't understand what level of government is responsible for what. So many people in the sunken place just with their eyes targeting Trudeau not realizing what they're complaining about is the work of their premieres. That and the inability to be

Watched The Gorge on Apple, and it was not great. The whole time I kept thinking, who wrote this and which executive is their parent because I don’t know how movies like this get made when there are so many great stories out there to be told.

Just saw google maps now has (Gulf of America) after Gulf of Mexico 🙄… Apple Maps doing the same?

Here’s a list of Indigenous (to US/Canada) follows on BSky. I’ve added a dozen more people since the first version. Let me know if I missed anybody. go.bsky.app/22LJsC3

I cannot recommend taking The Canadian across Canada more! I had such a great time disconnecting from work, social media, the outside world and just relaxing on the train, socializing with new people, and seeing the amazing views that Canada has to offer!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2024 Fall Economic Statement Overlooks Key Urban Indigenous Priorities OTTAWA, ONTARIO – The National Association of Friendship Centres (NAFC) acknowledges the release of the 2024 Fall Economic Statement and the contributions of Budget 2024.

Hey, this is fucked up: Meta, OpenAI (ChatGPT), and Remotasks (possibly more companies?) are using exploitative labor in Africa to train their AI. People are paid pennies to label disturbing images in abusive work environments. So when it isn't decimating our water supply, it's traumatizing humans.

Another Indigenous photographer whose work I love is Kikki Guerard - Fashion Camera. Kikki is a 2S Swampy Cree photographer, creative director, and storyteller! www.instagram.com/fashioncamera/

While on the topic of photographers, I'll start sharing some of my favourite Indigenous photographers from what is currently known as Canada, USA, Australia, and New Zealand. Today I'll start with Nadya Kwandibens, a fellow Anishinaabe portrait photographer based in Toronto. www.redworks.ca

I reached out to the gallery via email with an unsurprising response about public photography laws, trying to now get names of dancers, exhibitions are expensive to put on, and they are no longer selling the prints but no actual apology to the harm caused to the community. #Indigenous #appropriation

The gallery is now defending the photos saying they were taken in a public space which I think is unethical even if legal. Coming into Indigenous spaces for consumption and personal benefit is bottom level.

Disappointed that in 2024 there are still non-Indigenous photographers still exploiting and profiting off of Indigenous peoples and cultures. This NYC based photographer has an exhibition at this Toronto gallery of pow wow dancers without their knowledge. www.thecardinalgallery.ca/exhibitions/...

Hello everyone, please give the NAFC a follow. The Friendship Centre Movement does very important work supporting Indigenous peoples living in urban areas with over 100 Friendship Centres across Canada.

Doctors Without Borders teams in #Sudan are treating war-wounded patients with catastrophic injuries and providing humanitarian aid and medical care. More than 11 million have been displaced by the current conflict, including over 3 million who have fled to countries like Chad & South Sudan.

Lidia Thorpe, the Australian Indigenous senator who heckled King Charles during his visit to Australia last month, is now facing formal criticism by other senators for her actions against the king.

Block & report. X has several “native American” “love” “history” bullshit overseas accounts that Indigenous people have been trying to get removed as fake for years. They’re moving here. They post crap like the these images, sexualizing women, use AI, steal content, fish for likes, etc.

With my influx of new followers, I just wanted to say Aaniin! hello!and I will start being active on here. Thanks for the follow.
