Submarine cable cutters are necessary equipment for cable maintenance and repair. Every cable repair ship carries a similar device. The fact that a Chinese patent was recently filed for a submarine cable cutter isn’t the smoking gun people seem to think it is.

Cable saboteur suspect EAGLE S will leave Finnish arrest. Three of her crew will not. Investigation is ongoing and concerns serious sabotage of comms and power cables. yle.fi/a/7-10073563

Another suspected cable break has been discovered in the Baltic Sea off Gotland, the Swedish Coast Guard confirms. The cable in question, the C-Lion1, which runs between Finland and Germany, was also damaged during the incidents in November and December last year. www.svt.se/nyheter/utri...

Police investigations come to an end with the main question unanswered. Who intentionally cut the fiber optic cable to Evenes Air Station in Northern Norway?

The German Navy has confirmed multiple instances of sabotage on its warships, including one involving the FGS Emden, one of its newest units.

New Baltic Sea cable break it seems. This time a Latvian state comms cable from Ventspils to Gotland. If anyone can find more facts such as time of disconnect it would be swell. @eldomador.bsky.social ?

Analysis of AIS data shows that in November 2023 the tanker Eagle S was navigating at minimal speed for 2 hours above the 'Atlantic Crossing 1' cable North of the Netherlands, newspaper NRC reports. The ship has been detained by Finland on suspicion of having damaged cables in the Gulf of Finland.

“According to ship tracking data seen by the FT, the Shunxing39 had been criss-crossing waters close to Taiwan’s north coast since December 8 at least. The pattern suggested the cable damage was not an “innocent accident”” www.ft.com/content/be99...

Russian intelligence vessel YANTAR exited an Egypt naval base today. Last AIS-message heading 318° then shut down AIS.

The incident involving undersea cables in the Baltic Sea is the latest in a series of suspected attacks on critical infrastructure. We commend the Finnish authorities for their swift action in boarding the suspected vessel. My joint statement → europa.eu/!k6cCfB (1/3)

Finnish presser live: 3km No fly zone over Eagle S declared, finnish police and border guards on board and conducting investigation. Eagle S suspected of breaking the Estlink 2 power cable and other (unspecified) cables.

Multiple subsea cable faults 🚨 4 data cables and 1 electrical cable outage in the Finnish Gulf between Estonia and Finland. Shallow sea with 100m max depth. Suspected vessel detained by 🇫🇮 coast guard. Positive: Authorities react much quicker than in previous incidents.

After todays Chinese police investigation (with passive police guests from affected countries) cable saboteur Yi Peng 3 is left to her own devices in Kattegatt. She has been constantly guarded since forced to stop Nov 19, but no more it seems. Danish navy was last to leave.

Chinese authorities have now boarded to inspect Yi Peng 3 and have invited Swedish police and representatives from Finland, Denmark and Germany as observers, who are "not to do anything active on board". Presumably the conclusion will be that everything is fine, no need for further investigation.

O. M. G. Look at that track. Danish TV2 found proof of a second Yi Peng 3 sabotage attempt, ten days earlier than the known sabotage. 3 x experts deem the bottom-track man made and not by fishing. It matches the course of YP3 and she made a suspicious AIS-track exactly at the spot. Link below.
