They have a relay race!

If I were an advanced alien civilization, I don't know why I would bother with this place. We aren't very smart, don't have a lot of resources, and are located in the middle of nowhere.

Was he at the owner’s meetings?

Les Miles...top 20 coach???

That is why Sterling Sharpe making the Hall of Fame is bringing me joy. A dominant receiver on a lot of bad Packer teams, only to have to retire due to a neck injury when the team was getting good.

Iowa has only three, four-year public universities. It's rural areas are full of four year religous colleges that educate and employ a significant number of its residents. And commenters who are framing this as a red/blue state thing just need to STFU. It's not helpful at all.
comment in response to post
Exactly. And poorly endowed on top of it.

I wouldn’t call Mount Mercy or Saint Ambrose rural. There are plenty of rural, religious colleges in Iowa, but these aren’t two of them.

The last time I went to Europe, it was "Hunt for Red October" for me. It just reinforced my hot take that Alec Baldwin is a way better Jack Ryan than Harrison Ford.

The best part is that after the game, he admitted the umps got it right.

Correct. What Biden should have done is not run at all, and go through a typical nomination process. It would have at least gotten people excited about a candidate and polish their talking points.

Don't we all.

Not rigged. No way Wemby would go to a place like San Antonio if that were the case.

Manfred Mann's "Blinded by the Light" is better than Bruce's but he's still got "Spirit in the Night."

I hate them all. And Sam Adams sucks.

Well, there was a Pope Hilarius back in the day, so draw whatever conclusions you want from that.

I'm being sarcastic. I've been watching the NBA a long time and the narrative that if the players make more money, they won't play that hard is just nonsense.
comment in response to post
I wonder why? He somehow has the impression that players make too much money to properly play the game. How absurd...
comment in response to post
Gosh, he has a history of not getting along with people and hates the current game and its players. It's just a mystery why no one is seeking his advice.

This would have had to be between ‘92 with no Nevada helmet when they left the Big Sky and ‘96 since the Boise State helmet is being feasted upon.

This entire debate actually got me to ask the question, "Phil Simms' number is retired?"

Cmon... Does NBC think we are actually sentimental for the voice guy?

It was even better...grandparents would be willing to die to save the economy for the sake of their grandchildren. That was the Lt. Gov of Texas.

How can you fight back on third party collectives paying NIL?
comment in response to post
But see even in the Penn transgender athlete situation, they are invoking a federal law (Title IX) an applying it in different ways. I'm not exactly sure how that applies here.
comment in response to post
Right. Executive orders aren't laws. They aren't even regulations. They are orders guiding executive branch action. I can't imagine how he is going to limit NIL though that. (Of course, he does a lot of them for show too...but that doesn't substantially change anything.)
comment in response to post
I am not sure how exactly he can do this via executive order since the federal government isn't involved at any point in the NIL process.

Most college and universities have plenty of spots available for both domestic and international students. Maybe not the flagship publics and the Ivy League-types, but smaller liberal arts college and public comprehensives will take almost all comers these days.

To this day, I will say that the most stressed out I have ever been watching a sporting event was a 3OT WCHA semifinal game between Wisconsin and North Dakota in 1983.

Because it is also a long time until November 2026. They can wait it out all summer and see what the fall brings.
