Apparently it would cost £3.6 billion to remove the two-child benefit cap. Most of this could be found immediately by removing the 5p per litre fuel subsidy. Do motorists really need benefits more than poor families?

The outpourings of the commentariat are increasingly predictable. Original thinking now largely consists of trying to find new ways to justify stupidity.

Marie Curie employs about 4,000 people, so that's roughly £750 per employee - or £62.50/month. Not negligible, but we're not talking about a small charity with limited resources and low-paid staff.

Outlawing Air BnB in London would be a start.

Great news - watched him on Wednesday night and he looked every bit a top level centre-back.

Fact-free intellectual laziness has long been a trait of right-wing media organs (FT and occasionally the Economist get a pass). Trump is the latest high-profile embodiment of this trait, of course they love him.

BBC just wants to start a row, as they seem to think that this will be "good telly/radio". It's actually getting rather tedious. Programmes like Question Time and even Newsnight are gradually becoming unwatchable.

How much of this is due to having to pay a higher minimum wage?

There's a growing tendency for corporate media to push out "versions of the news" rather than the full facts. These versions are probably what people are increasingly choosing to avoid.

Perhaps she could list their crimes - you know, some facts?

So if I make £90,000 in total income, my overall tax bill is about £23,500, roughly 26% on the £90,000?

It's potentially one-eighth of a lost generation but yes, you're right. Whilst some of these people will be "taking a break", for those who get to 24 without ever having had a job it's not going to get easier

If the government goes ahead with planned £5 billion PIP cuts, up to 3.6 million people will be on average close to £1,500 per year worse off. With their pay rise, MPs will be £2,000 per year better off. I don't begrudge hard-working MPs a modest pay rise but it's not a great look.

Given that Farage's tongue is firmly in Trump's cheek I guess he knows what he's talking about

Indeed.

Good that these wealthy old folks are actually doing something with their cash rather than just hoarding it. Although judging by these reports most of it's being spent overseas!

Could you say a bit more about how water companies and the waste industry are putting pressure on the government not to act on this issue? If we can highlight this and embarrass the MPs and officials concerned it might help jolt them into action.

Perhaps Vance will do us the courtesy of telling us which countries he was referring to? Vance, courtesy - OK.

Trump has realised that the so-called rare earths agreement isn't worth the paper it's written on - so he set Vance on Zelenskyy to start a fight that will allow him to back out.

How can Nick Robinson continue to be employed by the BBC if he simply regurgitates Kremlin talking points?
