... Realising I should have brought my 7" of Golden Hair for Simon to sign!

You did such incredible things. The thrill of receiving a record like that... although I have a feeling that might have been an Our Price purchase rather than postal.

It's from @ride.band Yes it's been a long quest, but I'm kind of resigned to never having it, and I haven't got a cassette player anyway. But no, I can't think of any other Ride I don't have, or any Slowdive, The Cure, New Order, Spacemen 3 etc that I don't have.

I often say, I genuinely can't imagine knowing there was music out there from one of my top, say, ten artists, and not owning it. It would drive me crazy. This tape is perhaps the one remaining holy grail.

That's your pension, that is. Right up there with my Andy Bell Nightshift CD as the ultimate Ride related rarity.

Funnily enough have just been looking at that! Assuming it handles a variety of files / iOS, it might be the answer. Although there's something simple he just loves about the iPod Classic, and it being mine...

...Basically, giving my youngest son my iPod Classic with 20K songs and loads of videos of him and his brother as kids has turned into a digital bequeathment with a level of emotional significance that that the unit's battery life is unable to support.

Thanks... yes, so would I, but my son has rediscovered my iPod Classic and now I'm tied in to some kind of 'digital legacy' thing with huge emotional significance, but a battery that lasts about 20 mins.

There's a good book of it, with an intro by some fella called Stewart Lee

Don't, it drives me nuts thinking of the gigs I missed out on by a year or two.
