Trueta was a truly remarkable surgeon wasn’t he. I managed to get my hands on an old copy of his memoirs a while back. I think someone at Oxford Uni m should look into reprinting them in English. So glad you’re shining a light on all these remarkable people. Brilliant.

Uff. I sort of wish I hadn’t just read this on a train, but equally grateful despite welling up. I still mourn my family, for the past. Time makes things slightly better & I then I feel guilty for not mourning. Grief’s a strange, evolving beast. Thanks for sharing, it helps and sending you love.

Bawled my eyes out, today is 8 years to the day for me losing my sis, the power of it never diminishes. But I didn’t bawl in a bad way, it was a positive bawl. It’s cathartic having the baffling range of grief put into words - and I thank you for it.
