You should log off, but if you don't and need a pick me up: I finally got a pun in guards guards!. Vimes called a coffee "love in a canoe coffee" which is a dirty pun! It's "f***ing close to water coffee"

My company actually gave us the day off for holiday. My dumb ass didn't realize it till I worked for an hour. Spent the rest of the day playing video games because the ballot was mailed last week.

It sucks that every four years for the last 3 cycles we learn that our neighbors are at best stunningly easily conned and at worst are amoral psychopaths. I don't need to know that, let me love my fellow man.

This is the best response I've seen to the worst timeline thing. Them you.

I feel awkward asking people about their professional work because idk if they want to talk about work outside it. That said if you don't mind: are there any earth life forms that astrobiology uses as a model?

If the forces of justice would like to give Vance a new religion that would be peachy. I know alito is too much to ask for.

I'd say I can't imagine them being undecided before but... that is a group that struggles with critical thinking.

It's been weird being a catholic with atheist friends. Mainly because I can counsel them on working through feelings of sharing religious views with truly awful (usually white cis male) people. I'm glad my atheist friends don't have to grapple with musk now though.

Yeah, it is pretty silly, though if you asked me if tv Hillary or movie trump would be more likely to backstab I would guess movie trump.

I'm also very confused by that one.

Donaghy does have a special bond with Cheney, that specific endorsement shouldn't be discounted.

Homer probably wouldn't vote out of stupidity. But if he voted it'd be a surprisingly emotional scene as he voted Harris.
comment in response to post
You know hank would be mad at Vance too. He'd call him egg boy and threaten to kick his ass.
comment in response to post
Remember donaghy and Cheney had a very special relationship so that endorsement would probably sway him. Plus trump didn't help with the rich cop plan.

Is there a good episode to come in on?

I didn't know it was a word and the journey through the paragraph was disappointing. So weird.

Why are you like this? (It's a good reminder)

Very much not looking forward to that. Last time he was up all the time so it didn't matter, but now he's sleeping through the night.

Laughed so hard I coughed at this one. Was not expecting such a good Carlson joke.

Thank you, sorry to side track the conversation

It's wild how close so many states really are. I'd be shocked if this was the final map, but the sea of red and blue really hides how were talking about elections decided by 10% or less in so many places.

I use this as a personal litmus because I grew up sheltered from women's health, but had a number of unashamed female friends who didn't hold back on problems, and then met my wife who does not at all hold back. Better late than never, but wish it had been sooner that I internalized women's stories

Best joke relating to this was a remake of Batman asking Supergirl instead of Superman "Do you bleed" and getting "Yes, every month for a few days". Just very different experiences where a man think's he's being hardcore about blood and it's not impressive.

I am convinced Maron will be canceled despite all evidence to the contrary, so I'm still happily surprised every day he's not.

This isn't the most important thing, but what the heck happened in the 1900-1910 period to make the small amount even smaller?
comment in response to post
*sticks, the plural is important here, nice long numerous pointy sticks
comment in response to post
In a pinch they can probably get away with just the friends and the stick if they are just defending an area with an ok choke point.

Seattle hasn't had many Trump hats, I don't think I've seen one this year. Glad the shift isn't just in the city.

A wonderfully beneficial trade! I have been saving a medium nice bottle of wine and this feels as good as any other reason.

One of the best books about war fiction I read recently was "How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying" where the character is in a time loop so she has died a very large number of times and is very frank about what usually happens when you're hit in the head or captured or, etc.

America's honest big weakness is a legacy of European strong guy warfare keeping us from an army of lesbians and twinks. I.e. guns with too much recoil, equipment for 5'11" people, and a culture expecting straight men. Luckily it's not a uniquely American flaw.

I can't smoke it and edibles make me anxious if I over do it. So please enjoy my share of the pnw's weed if it helps you.

I need to do postcards at the midterms. This year was mostly handling baby so wife could phone bank, and sleeping sometimes.

After a while the consensus number for the speed of light was raised (all the numbers nudging lower were still on the high side) and then the cycle repeated. Eventually people got the right answer but it took a long time because the measured numbers were "corrected".
comment in response to post
I'll use a physics example because it's not just polls that fall for it. The measured speed of light was slowly getting faster for years. The speed wasn't changing, the agreed value was too low, but no researcher wanted to challenge the "right"answer, so they nudged their number for it lower 1/2

Biden was real good at counting to 50% plus one and was also real good at knowing 50% plus two isn't worth anything more.

Realized I said more poorly what the linked article said. I'll read first next time and say "here here" to the article now

I think it helped in 2016 and 2020 to have left candidates and I'm looking forward to voting for a left candidate in 2028. I was sad the 2024 primary didn't have that option.

I hate how stark the choice is for trans people. Like it's not a hard choice on who to vote for here (Harris), but it shouldn't be so high stakes. (Apologies for liking a bunch of your replies, I'm using this to preemptively mute/block some accounts so I don't go picking fights Tuesday)

Sometimes I think you're too positive and productive to be punk, and then this happens and I realize I'm the one who doesn't understand punk well.

Oh, I remember hearing about her. I forgot she was highly focused on Iowa and good at her job there.

For the not so invested, why is this one such a big deal? Harris up three in a red state is good but it's one poll. It's selzer that impressive?

Tbf this one shouldn't have an effect either, Vance is a lot like a young trump in so many ways. The difference is trump spent decades being awful but somehow not getting beaten up so we internalized he doesn't get published for his behavior. Vance... well we'll see
