"It's almost impossible to believe he exists. It's as if you took everything that was bad about America, scraped it off the floor, put it in an old hot dog skin & taught it to make noises with its mouth" #PRESIDEMENTIA

Climate crisis = insurance crisis: www.businessinsider.com/homeowners-i...

ICONIC: Yosemite National Park workers just hung an upside-down American flag—THOUSANDS of feet up on El Capitan. That’s not decoration. That’s a distress signal. They’re telling us the country is in danger. Are you paying attention? www.sfchronicle.com/outdoors/art...

“The thing Trump and Musk value most of all is money. Their entire regime is best understood as a criminal junta whose end goal is to redirect the wealth of the nation into their own pockets. They are running a kleptocracy, and they’ve figured out that facism is actually the quickest path to riches”

If you’re cheering for a South African sociopath to fuck over US military veterans then you should probably stop with that America first bullshit.

📢 ATTENTION EVERYONE 📢 Trump and the republicans are planning deep cuts to medicaid. Medicaid provides healthcare for millions of Americans including children, pregnant people, people with disabilities, and nursing home residents. ☎️ Call your representatives now! 5calls.org/issue/protec...

The top 0.1% of Americans control $22 trillion in wealth. The bottom 50% control $3.8 trillion in wealth. Read that back. Folks, this is what oligarchy looks like.

If Musk and his DOGEstapo go down this road it's going to cause unparalleled chaos. Think of how many payments, bills, and invoices go out by postal mail. Mail in ballots become untrustworthy under a privatized corpo post office, as it's no longer impartial. Not to mention no more postal unions.

Letter from congress that is incredibly alarming. Looks like #DOGE got access to #nasa and they use the word ominous. democrats-science.house.gov/imo/media/do...

Be clear. $8 billion was an error. They misread $8 million! And it’s not saving. It’s cutting services, necessary research, assistance to millions here and overseas, and enforcement of laws that protect consumers and workers.

Yes. It seems like they didn’t get nearly as many people as they’d hope to accept the deferred resignation program and now they’re trying to mentally break them and get them to quit. They want agencies to fail.

The heads of multiple federal agencies have told their employees not to respond to Musk’s email. Seems like Musk would’ve gotten approval for this draconian change in policy from Trump, with Cabinet officers informed in advance. But no, because this admin is in utter chaos.

As promised, here are the slides I shared with students to convince them to NOT use chatGPT and other artificial stupidity. TL;DR? AI is evil, unsustainable and stupid, and I'd much rather they use their own brains, make their own mistakes, and actually learn something. 🪄

We had friends & allies around the world based on alliances & relationships that were built over many decades. In one month, Trump has torched them all. Now our friends are Putin, Orban, the crypto scammer in Argentina, and the guy in El Salvador offering us mercenary prisons.

Not a great time for citizens who have chosen to serve their country by working in government, when the current leaders have nothing but contempt for your very existence. I have an idea, run for office against a Republican who is enabling it - which is all of them.

I think the implications here are painfully and terrifyingly obvious.

"I am deeply worried by the shadow that's going over the world... that we have to call fascism"

If Republicans won't show up for town halls because they're too cowardly to hear the displeasure of their constituents to their faces, then we need to start an email blitz campaign for voters in their districts to make their voices heard.

Over 150 people in #PA11 were so fed up with their GOP Rep. Lloyd Smucker’s lack of a town hall that they held one instead. Smucker won his district with 63% of the vote in November and now his constituents are holding mock town halls. Something is happening. lancasteronline.com/news/politic...

While the United States spent less than $100 billion in military, economic, and humanitarian support for Ukraine over 3 years, US arms sales across the globe have skyrocketed directly as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, an increase of $300 billion just in 2023/2024.

Last night's Pentagon massacre is much more than realized. Not just firing the black CJCS and first woman CNO but all the senior JAG officers and hiring a man who just joined 3 different crypto firms tied to Kushner and Thiel as Chairman. I did a deep dive into it open.substack.com/pub/fpwellma...

It's very important to understand that Musk's script kiddies are _not_ tech geniuses or even tech-competent. They're there because they were the only ones in Musk's orbit willing to commit major federal crimes on his behalf. The actual tech being deployed is ... shudderingly amateurish and unsafe.

There are employees who work a 4x10 schedule with regular days off (RDO) Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and others with Sunday, Monday, Tuesday who will not get this email or have the opportunity to respond during working hours. There are others who do not access .gov email b/c they don't use computers.

another great example along with Wired and Teen Vogue of how real journalism these days can be a lot braver at outlets where no one is trying to get in good with the White House press secretary they’re out here with us, reporting on what’s happening to us all, instead of trying to get inside access

Yes, it is entirely correct to point out that ICE officers do not have any legal authority to break into somebody’s home unless they get a judicial warrant; which they generally cannot do, because judges only issue warrants for probable cause of crimes, not immigration law violations.

So is it just my weird ND pattern-matching that looks at Trump firing all of the Judge Advocate Generals (who determine whether or not orders are legal), remembers Trump asking why they can't just shoot protesters (recounted by Esper in 2022), and jumps immediately to the Kent State Massacre?

firing for "too much DEI" is plainly firing a woman and a Black man on the presumption only white men can be qualified. this is disgusting biogtry.

The Republican Party is betraying the country. It's outright treason. They're watching and cheering as a mad king dismantles American power in ways that we will never, ever return from. They are traitors.

I assume it’s gonna be Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, and that pillow guy with the concerning twitch

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

I’m telling you @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, please watch this. This is the energy. Not egg prices and book tours and strongly worded letters. It’s time to take the gloves off.

So let's get this straight: The U.S. and Elon are now extorting Ukraine and threatening to turn off their Starlink Internet access unless they give their critical rare earth minerals to the United States? Staggering levels of corruption.

Seems pretty obvious to me that Trump wants to install sycophantic yes-men into those top ranks so that any military command he gives will go through unquestioned. The next question should be: where is the enemy Trump wants to attack? Greenland? Panama? Canada? California?

In a shocking display of incompetence, tRump fired General CQ Brown, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. This reckless decision is a blatant attack on military integrity, leaving a power vacuum that could jeopardize national security. www.axios.com/2025/02/22/t...

This is very, very bad. Am working on a write-up, but let’s just say that firing military leaders for blatantly political reasons is wildly inappropriate; firing all the too lawyers is ominous; firing them all at the same time is a terrifying five-alarm fire

Shutting down already installed infrastructure isn't "efficiency," it's sabotage electrek.co/2025/02/21/t...

“Destruction for the ill-conceived notion of cutting costs didn’t put an American on the moon, and it didn’t wipe smallpox from the face of the Earth" - Sudip Parikh, CEO of AAAS, on Science Friday today www.sciencefriday.com/segments/aaa... #standupforscience2025 #scienceforall

Here's video of Steve Bannon doing a Sieg Heil today at CPAC. It is what it is and it's what Bannon intended. Don't let yourself be gaslit.

Here’s a better peace plan for Ukraine. “Russia, you’ve already sustained twice as many casualties as the US did in ww2. Leave Ukraine or suffer four times more, and collapse as a country in the process” Done

President Musk reposted an image of "migrants storming a Birmingham hospital." it turns out the image was FROM A BATMAN MOVIE! 🤪
