Wait, where do you live that has enough pollen in the air for hay fever? The "feels like" temperature here was -21C when I left my house this morning.

Hahah, I once met this guy from Buffalo who was like "Oh, Canadians! You guys are such nice people unless you're coming to invade our whole city for a Tragically Hip concert, where you guys go freaking crazy and trash our neighbourhood."

There was a beautiful and genuine empathy on a national scale for a guy who was dying and just wanted to spend his last days connecting with people across the country. It was cool to see, and when I briefly stood with the folks in the park, I felt like I experienced it, too.

Might even have been more than 1k people. Anyway, I have to concede that this band touched a huge audience, and that generally speaking, it represented the very best of bro culture. There was something special there, even if the music wasn't for me.

I often think of this moment too, and I'm generally kind of... well, I don't want to say Hip-hater, but I'm not really a fan. They just always seemed kinda dumb to me? But. That tour, though. At least 1000 people in (rainy!) London, Ont. gathered to watch the last show on a big outdoor screen.

Cheers. Gonna add this to the “to make” list.

Okay, I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but I've never spatchcocked a chicken. And a pan sauce? You have a recipe?

It's all about the little things: Fresh basil, fresh parmesan, extra minced garlic in the meatballs, toasting the garlic beforehand, etc. All those little improvements really add up.

Hahah, I made this exact same thing (including soaking the bread in milk) on Monday.

I'll take this as a call to AMA. What you gonna cook for dinner tomorrow? Corollary: Do you have an awesome recipe that could help other dads who do most of the cooking? I'm gonna need to feed my *relatively* traditional parents on Sunday.

In answer to the question, I'm pretty certain they do. Haven't heard an updated proprietary number in a while, but last I heard, yeah, their rush chances are way down. And that tracks with what we see. As for the underlying numbers bit, yeah everything is down.

I mean, it *is* the best goaltending the Leafs have had in a long time. I just think that it seems foolish to bank on it?

This is a very good tweet.

Really? This team has generated 3.19 G/GP and last year's generated 3.70. If that team was afraid to try things, it didn't show up on the score sheet. The numbers may not seem that different, but the difference is significant.

Honest question, why do you think this is the best Matthews-era team?
comment in response to post
They've really been very obliging in only getting injured in alternating sequences this year. Might not next year. Either or both could also just have kind of a down year.

One thing we don't know yet is whether Matthews *can* score 70 in Berube's system that de-prioritizes rush chances, decreases cycle chances and features a power play that's about as effective as using a croissant as a dildo. We'll have to see when he's healthy, but.

Did Pat Quinn's goaltending fall apart?

Léon the Professional! Features a very young Natalie Portman.

Come on, dude. Let's not go there. Have you heard the story about how he almost died at birth and how his dad almost couldn't give blood to his son because people were lined up to give blood to 9/11 victims?
comment in response to post
Broadly, gaining the zone and then playing it back to the point to gain time to set up is fine. It's what most power plays do. But the Leafs are so unthreatening in terms of a play down low that PKers just pressure them up high and the puck comes out.

Every time the main character gets killed he turns to the camera and gasps “the horror, the horror.”
comment in response to post
Listen, I see it too, but the problem is that he's lost access to the building for most games. He's just watching on a TV like you and me. Feels like he should maybe get some slack for that.
comment in response to post
Maybe people confused the main character for the guy who won.

Weird consideration maybe, but how would it look in front of your house? Would it clash? If not, giddy up.

I’m a real “boring is good” kinda guy when it comes to cars. Silver is probably best for hiding dirt, though this wouldn’t be bad. It’s not ugly, which is really the only thing that matters.

He's looked much better as the season has worn on, and I don't think it's just a question of shooting percentage. If they had traded him back in November (leaving aside the fact that it wouldn't really have made sense with all the injuries) I would have kind of understood.

Congrats!!!

He’s probably tired and definitely injured. Really wish they’d just sit him until he was 100%, but I get that the situation is probably complicated.

Hahah, sorry about the game, but I have to say I'm happy to see PSG take it comfortably. Super cool you got to the game!

Maybe one of the Montreal guys?
