I really don't know what I'm doing with myself or this description (yet, anyways).

Changeling the Lost is a ton of fun - the mechanics are fine (i like them, but I can't vouch for the balance), the setting is really interesting and might be a good option if you've been playing call of Cthulhu.
Mork Borg could be a fun (and simple) option to head to from the DnD angle.

I haven't looked much into 5th edition, but Revised was my first proper entry point to ttrpgs, and dang, the worldbuilding is completely off the charts. The mechanics may not have really worked, but the powers were thematic and cool as heck.

Gotta be tokusatsu. Something that really drills into the character arcs + wild overarching stories + some fun and fast combat.
I'd also love to do a kaiju game, but less giant monsters in a goofy fight and more struggling to survive on the ground while that happens.

If it's any consolidation, I like it! The format/layout of the book is interesting, and I feel like wrestling especially lends itself to having actual photos rather than art.

Absolutely this, all the time.
I recently read an article talking about how OSR isn't a good match for mecha in a lot of ways, so I'm feeling motivated to experiment and see if i can play with that.

I was really impressed. So impressed i watched it twice when i first saw it, and tried to make a game that captures the feel. It didn't quite work, but at some point i want to take another swing at it.

That's a lot of adventuring to cram into one box. Awesome collection!

That is a beautiful collection and a perfect example of why I'm stopping myself from getting back into Transformers.
I've picked up a couple of Diaclone toys that are just gorgeous, but otherwise I build gunpla (puts a real bottleneck on getting more on the shelf).

Part of it is juggling a variety of things - I try to work on a few games with very different feels so I can have motivation for at least one.
Part of it is trying to keep things short/small. I will never finish a 300pg heartbreaker, and I'm happy with that.
But also, make sure to take breaks.

PAX Unplugged is in this ballpark, but I'm not sure about the ttrpg to board/card game ratio.
Even mainline PAX has a whole tabletop section/expo hall to itself (in Seattle, at least)

I have a friend that's got a couple of their stories/books up there. It's a really excellent site for distribution as long as you're not worried about discoverability.

Would love to be included. A ways north of Seattle, but definitely in that region.

I have very limited time to play, so it's almost always one shots with very brief notes. Due to the brevity of the notes, I often don't remember enough to pick it up later regardless...
It does mean I can really focus and make progress/experience a story when i am playing, though, which is great.

Lots of my favourites there - some WoD, Exalted, Lancer. Vampire was my first as well! (Though, my heart will always belong to Changeling (Lost) and Mage (Ascension))

I spent a lot longer thinking about this than maybe is warranted. Picking a favourite is tough, but i think i have to give it to Outlaw Star.
Close second for Votoms, though.

I'm a big fan of the "thank you for showing up and being active in the game" XP - giving xp for winning fights just incentivizes fighting, and giving xp for dealing with "encounters" just makes folks ask what counts as an encounter constantly. Show up, have fun, get xp.

It was an amazing talk!
I always find the complexity of what you're doing so daunting, but it was great to get a peek behind the curtain.

I feel like this makes it harder to know how to play than anything else...
Bonus points for neither character in the title being featured as part of this screen.
I am so filled with questions...

I've read theough this a couple of times now, and i really love it. There's some fun naming conventions, interesting ideas, and dang, do i love your concept for the Legends 1-3 parts.
This plus your regular game idea posts just make my day constantly.

I'll take less polygons, more color, and more personality over bland character designs made of more polygons than the ps1 can display at once any day.

Strong agree. There's so many things in games that haven't been explored yet. We'd do well to restrict graphics and explore gameplay and story possibilities more.

It's got to be X-Men 2: Clone Wars. The incredible number of hours I put into that as a kid easily logs it as my favourite.
Close behind are Golden Axe 3 and Phantasy Star 4, but I didn't play those until I was an adult, so they don't have the sheer nostalgia power.

I keep saying you can play it on the TV. And if it has co-op, we can play it together.
Should probably do a series playthrough while we wait for it...
