It would be helpful if more people understood renewable energy is actually an extremely disruptive technology and the reason monied interests are trying to make folks hate it is that they are the ones which will be disrupted.

The Stone Age didn’t end because we ran out of stone. Society has changed before at the scale we need it to today: but that change was never catalyzed by presidents, PMs, or CEOs of the richest companies of the time. The fossil fuel age won’t end until we ordinary people demand it does.

Don’t bet on carbon dioxide removal at all!

Some departments of NOAA have been sent an email requiring staff "to pause “ALL INTERNATIONAL ENGAGEMENTS.” (Emphasis theirs.) The message states that the orders extend to participation in international commissions and even emails “with foreign national colleagues.”"

More good news from January 2025.

Ukraine's electricity grid is under constant bombardment of Russia. Decentralized power could be the way to make the system less vulnerable in the coming years. www.iea.org/reports/empo... For me, it's a reminder that renewable energy is also about resilience.

POW! All new houses built in Tokyo after April 2025 must include solar power panels. Let's speed that up. Who's next? RT if you think more houses should get a solar powered upgrade. We have the solutions. Implement them. #ActOnClimate #climate #energy #renewables

Wind and solar saved the EU €59 BILLION in fossil fuel imports over the last five years 💶 Without the new 🌪️ and ☀️ added since 2019, the EU would have needed to burn an extra 92 billion cubic metres of fossil gas and 55 million tonnes of coal. ember-energy.org/lat...

Can anyone tell what’s going on in this pic? #energysky Looks like floor heating. But outdoors?

Rereading David Lynch’s Catching the Big Fish. He likens the mind to an ocean: surface-level thoughts are like small waves, while deeper thoughts—big ideas, or “big fish”—reside in the depths. Lynch argues that transcendental meditation allows to dive deep, where the richest, profound ideas exist

Last year saw the biggest one-year jump in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration on record: by 3.58 parts per million. On geological timescale that's like an explosion. And we're unfortunate enough to watch it in slow motion, and stupid enough to continue doing what makes it worse ☄️🦖

Clean energy movements are gaining traction across the EU: Citizen energy collectives in five EU member states (Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Greece & Poland) are making a difference in Europe's clean energy transition. Should we look to follow suit here in the UK? #energy www.dw.com/en/eu-clean-...

Seeing my biggest platform destroyed, then watching many younger women in SciComm have *their* biggest platforms destroyed is weighing on me. I’ve rebuilt here. I know they can rebuild too. Having our delicate careers subject to billionaire whims has me wishing for a stability I don’t think exists.

Mediterranean Sea Surface Temperatures increased by +0.5°C in a few years. More warming in the past 15 years than in the preceding 150. Increasing the sea temperature by 1°C takes >3000 times as much heat as for the same volume of air. More soon!
