Targeting a private educational institute because it won’t conform its governance and curriculum to what the state wants is…communist.

It's important to know the warning signs.

Carl Sagan speaking at MIT in 1987 on lowering our C02 emissions. Apply these words to any technological problem our world faces today and it holds up.

The Memorial Day Message from the President of the United States of America, in memory of those who have given their lives defending America, the Constitution, and the freedoms that we Americans enjoy on this Memorial Day 2025.

‘They say, We leave you our deaths. Give them their meaning.’ —Archibald MacLeish Remembering the fallen this Memorial Day, we can consider our own duty to strive so that our lives and our country are worthy of the price they paid.

Under the Biden administration, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau finalized a rule barring medical debt from appearing on credit reports. Now, the agency is siding with the credit industry groups suing to have the rule vacated.

The Pentagon restrictions on media covering the military follow a series of moves by the Trump administration to curtail press access. The changes overhaul historic access for the press.

Changing the facts to fit the narrative, I see…

Shame on West Point for inviting a draft dodger, who views the US military as merely props to be used for his own glory, to give its commencement speech. With no respect, the tacky wheezing fool wore a campaign ball cap and rambled on about yachts and trophy wives to the bored graduates.

"We are free as bodies, or not at all. And so health care is a right, one of the most basic... Dying senselessly is no act of freedom. And too many people in the USA do die senselessly because we have the wrong idea of freedom." www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

Wow. This is major news. Judges discuss moving the U.S. marshals from the executive to the judicial branch. Not only would they protect judges from trump threats, but it would also make it easier for courts to order marshals to carry out court orders.

🚨Hiding under 6 sections of science sounding rhetoric is an edict to appoint officers at each agency that will be responsible for detecting research that isn't "Gold Standard Science" as defined by the White House🚨 Stay tuned for rapid response action! www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

I’ll say this and then I’m gonna step back b/c 2026 IS THE ONLY NATIONAL ELECTION THAT’S IMPORTANT NOW. No Dem presidential candidate wins w/o high Black turnout & vote. So stop making it like Black voters are expendable or that you can serve up any candidate chosen by Pelosi, Clooney or MSM & win.

“The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.” — Treaty of Tripoli, signed by the United States in 1797.

If you thought this administration cared about human trafficking, you might want to take a look at my column from last night.

Glad this is finally getting attention from mainstream outlets. I wrote about it over a month ago on my Substack open.substack.com/pub/asharang...

Medicaid allows people with disabilities to fully participate in society. The House just passed a massive cut to Medicaid. We're calling on the Senate to protect our neighbors and defend this critical program.

So if Trump is meeting with these people who bribed him the most with his cryptocurrency in his "personal" capacity, then it can't be an "official act" and thereby shielded from prosecution with SCOTUS immunity if taking enormous bribes turns out to be a crime, right?

🤷🏼‍♂️

This is so depressing www.nytimes.com/2025/05/22/u...

The tax scam House Republicans passed last night is the largest cut to health care for working families in our nation's history. But this fight isn't over. The Senate can reject this bill, stand with @housedemocrats.bsky.social, and protect Americans’ health care.

This is the whole point of what Stephen Miller is doing with Harvard & other schools. It’s not about protests, anti-semitism or anything else. It is their plan, many years in the making, to dismantle the US university system. Schools must unite & fight together, not individually.

Phang: It’s time for federal judges to acknowledge that they have lifetime appointments—and that should give them the courage to uphold the rule of law, but also to put some damn teeth into the court orders they’re issuing. it’s time that we start seeing action from the judiciary. Grow some balls

Am I crazy or did we just have a convo about how we can't fund cancer research?

As lawyers like to say, res ipsa loquitur. The thing speaks for itself.

The Supreme Court holds that fascism is bad. Thomas and Alito dissent.

For no particular reason, I thought I’d remind folks about the time Trump reposted a full-size, full-color image of a truck that was “decorated” with an unconscious Joe Biden, arms and legs bound as though he’d been kidnapped, during the campaign. open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

The “fluoride removal” bit is a solution in search of a problem. Fluoride levels in Florida are completely safe, help prevent cavities, and keep kids in school. Where’s the evidence it’s been remotely harmful? There isn’t any. No ethics, no morals, all smoke and mirrors.

but seashells!

Georgia’s challenge law dates back to 1908, when a Jim Crow–era “pure registration” law was passed to suppress Black political participation…One Black Army veteran who was challenged likened it to those old tactics meant to discourage and exhaust voters into giving up. www.ajc.com/opinion/fair...

"Yup. Still. Because the pandemic didn’t end—it just got rebranded. We’re still dealing with an airborne, immune-damaging virus that doesn’t care if you’re over it."

Your Mother’s Day weekend reminder that the so-called “party of family values” has historically blocked: -Paid family & medical leave -Universal childcare -Universal pre-K -Expanded Child Tax Credit -Programs to support reproductive health Doesn’t sound very pro-family to me.
