“Why are American cars made in Canada?” What a dumbass question. Same reason Japanese, Korean, and German cars are made in America. Great job by interviewers not pushing back on a BS talking point.

Ten provinces, nine of which have populations bigger than five U.S. states have, and ten of which would never vote for team Trump after a hostile takeover. So let’s use the more realistic phrase, “51st through 60th states,” and THEN confidently say it’s never going to happen.

My wife and I enjoyed the International Freedom Festival fireworks from the other side of the river (Windsor) last summer with this bottle of Lot 40 rye. The photo has a much different perspective now - it's looking at a lonely, hostile, unstable nation fading into the sunset.

The now-hollow notion of an ironclad checks and balances system is taught as “objective and absolute” truth (in Socrates’ terms) from grade school to college Poli Sci—because a coup approved by half of that government was previously inconceivable. Now we know truth is as strong as the idea of it.

I remember how it felt during Trump 1.0 to realize, in my 50s, that everything I'd learned in K-16 about US government's "checks and balances" system had been idealistic propaganda (a polite way of saying: pure lies). Literally traumatizing to watch the evidence unfold daily.
