Until the genitals are corralled into their proper pens, nothing else matters. open.substack.com/pub/forwardh...

The perfect metaphor for what the Supreme Court did to this country with Citizens United v. FEC.

Ironic how the applause lines don’t match the budget cuts.

45,000 TSA employees just lost their union protection. Gee, that should make flying even safer than firing new air traffic controllers already did. www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

No shortage of selective outrage

Trudeau: He has said repeatedly, what he wants is to see a total collapse of the Canadian economy. Because that will make it easier to annex us. First of all, that's never going to happen. We will never be the 51st state.

A new word I learned from The Guardian this morning: “myrmidons.” It’s a blend of minions, henchmen, sycophants, acolytes, toadies, and republicans all in one.

A tale of two "smart vacuums." Roomba: Vacuums basement three times before texting a detailed topographical map of what it has learned, avoiding all obstacles afterward. Eufy: Still humping a main floor chess table relentlessly and wedging itself under a chair more than a year after unboxing.

As of today, a new term has entered our language. A “rubio” is a spineless lump of nothing. Example: Don’t be such a rubio.

Article: "This has only been studied since the turn of the century." Me: What 'only'? That's 125 years of study! Me: Oh, damn.

So increasing the minimum wage to a livable wage is “socialism”? But Amazon union busting, keeping wages low, and forcing workers onto public assistance while its founder increases his net worth by $7.9M an hour is the "free market"? Perhaps this could be a WaPo opinion piece.

“We swore to serve the American people and uphold our oath to the constitution… it has become clear that we can no longer honor those commitments.” Respect. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

America, right now: An Idaho woman is dragged away by unidentified men as her neighbors cheer and applaud, and a GOP legislator says "She spoke up, and now she doesn't want to suffer the consequences." www.reddit.com/r/Global_New...

On February 22, 1943, Sophie Scholl was beheaded for treason in Germany at age 21. She was a key member of the White Rose student activist group at the University of Munich who distributed leaflets like the one here calling for resistance to the Nazi state.

Pure evil. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Tyranny requires your fear, your silence, and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage.

I'm ready to be outraged by the "waste, abuse, corruption, theft, waste, grift" being exposed by the administration, except they don't show any evidence, they just repeat the words. A "DOGE tracker" web thingy makes a number get steadily bigger, but that's not proof. It's a widget.

We wanted them to have healthcare and a high paying job and a planet to live on and freedom. They want us to suffer. The parties are not the same.

"Hardly gets more American than this" — sadly, that's about the most accurate thing anyone could've said about the presidential limo slow-rolling a 180 mph race track at the speed of OJ in a white Bronco.

Not even trying to hide the corruption - unless you count removing "Tesla" from the document overnight so it just says "vehicles" instead. www.npr.org/2025/02/13/g...

But I think it's gonna be a long, long time...

Focus on doing something else to avoid political anxiety syndrome, the experts say. So I started a Substack (under my pronounceable name) — and goddammit, some political stuff leaked in there anyway. forwardhecried225.substack.com/p/this-is-no...

Just calling it like I see it.

NIH cuts billions of dollars in biomedical funding, effective immediately. The move halts a large slice of money for most universities and research institutions virtually overnight, imperiling vital research in everything from cancer to heart disease. www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...

“They don’t care about where they are or what’s on the menu. They’re not getting to know who I am, or seeing how I make a martini, or asking questions about what makes the place special.” Basically, everything that makes sitting at the bar enjoyable. www.vox.com/culture/3960...

"...the U.S. system of higher education has become well-known across the world for its reputation of research & teaching without government interference. The cornerstone of such a system is “academic freedom.” And this is what #SB1 would destroy." @AAUP.bsky.social www.dispatch.com/story/opinio...

They *think* they screwed up? Maybe they should consider a scenario where, say, the Mayor of Houston announces that all Dearborn citizens will be removed so their property can be developed. Would it be a definite screwup then? www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

happy first birthday to Bluesky, and what a year it's been! with every day, the need for an open network that puts people first becomes increasingly clear. we're glad to be building this with you. after all, the heart of a social network is the people.
