For decades, we underestimated the importance of our lymphatic vessels to suppress cancer and its spread. Here's a new, open-access, outstanding review rupress.org/jem/article/...

So happy to be off twitter and fully over here for months now.. How anyone can continue to post on a platform owned by someone who is literally destroying democracy is just beyond me.. #bluesky 💙

A little bit of good news: my first paper from work done here @danafarber.bsky.social @harvardchanschool.bsky.social is officially published today in @nature.com Fitting for me that the focus here is ccRCC given my past work dating all the way back to grad school! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

A new paper on microplastics accumulating in the brain was just published in Nature Medicine. I've reviewed the background and main findings in a new Ground Truths post erictopol.substack.com/p/the-microp...

Rather than immune suppression, CD206+ TAMs recruit a tumor-reactive network of CD8 T cells, cDC1s, and NK cells doi.org/10.1084/jem.... @maxkrummel.bsky.social @jexpmed.bsky.social

January is #MentoringMonth a time to reflect on the importance of mentor-mentee relationships And a good moment to share this beautiful letter written by Albert Camus to his teacher, after receiving the Nobel Prize You can't underestimate the impact of a great #teacher or #mentor! #ThankAMentor 🙏

🧪 fellow scientists, any advice on a good primer for scRNAseq analysis. Not just the coding part, but the math behind it as well.

Out now in @natimmunol.bsky.social @meriembelabed.bsky.social & Matthew Park uncover new #CellBiology of DC maturation: cholesterol stores mobilize to stabilize lipid nano-domains in the membrane, enabling immune receptor signaling. 1/2

A new #ScienceImmunology Review discusses the mechanisms through which dendritic cells influence cytotoxic CD8+ T cell responses against cancer. scim.ag/3PU7hRo

While this is an interesting piece - there are quite a few issues that have slipped through peer review here: e.g. controlling for heteroplasmy levels in their patient associations (the mutation calls for which are not properly provided in source data) ED Fig 9 @natureportfolio.bsky.social

Mok et al. evaluated the differences in memory responses between anti-CTLA-4 and anti-PD-1 to better understand why responses to anti-CTLA-4 last longer bit.ly/42oLGrD  @mdanderson.bsky.social  @jimallisonphd.bsky.social

How do T cells find the proper instructions to navigate tissues? In the Goldrath Lab @ucsdhealthsci.bsky.social, Amir Ferry mapped it out play-by-play. Potentiating these interactions strengthens the immunity cycle and enhances tumor control 1/n

New paper alert 📢! (Cell) @cp-cell.bsky.social - How does immune responses to solid tumors vary by age and tumor characteristics in children?! www.cell.com/cell/fulltex... 🧵1/8

🚨We're hiring! We've opened a fully-funded Ph.D. position to join my lab at the #LIH, if you are interested in understanding how genetic variation influences immune responses against cancer, don't hesitate to apply! 🔬 🧪 More info below ⬇️ www.lih.lu/en/job/?valu... #cancer #immunology #genomics

Why understanding biology matters in bioinformatics One big lesson: RNA and protein levels aren’t always correlated. If you don’t know this, you might draw the wrong conclusions. 🧵👇

Looking at bioinformaticians’ profiles these days, you'd think everyone has decades of experience in cutting-edge single-cell and AI-driven bioinformatics. But something’s missing… 👇

First lab Bluesky post! Happy to share new papers: PRINT: Using Perturb-map, we show in @cellpress.bsky.social how ovarian tumors resist immunotherapy > www.cell.com/cell/abstrac... PREPRINT We developed a new technology to easily generate cell-targeted LNP-RNA > www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Dive into career journeys of PIs in immunology, from mastering lab techniques, securing tenure, to navigating moves and balancing family with research🧗 Based on @yefis-immunology.bsky.social ECR workshop at #ECI2024 A must-read for aspiring immunologists and ECRs!👉 bit.ly/4fXeUkC

Hot off the press 🔥 Very proud of this collaboration! 💫 @Harvard @JohnsHopkins @UChicago @UniHeidelberg Interested in immunotherapy-induced toxicity? 🤓 This is a must-read 🤩 #immunology #science #cancer #research @nct-heidelberg.bsky.social @dkfz.bsky.social www.cell.com/trends/immun...

Cancer Cell is now on this side of the web! We hope you join us and continue to engage with us to help us develop a strong network based on our common interest of publishing impactful and cutting-edge cancer papers across the basic, translational, and clinical spaces.

Happy to share our last review on TAMs complexity! Mastered by @saraimrtnez.bsky.social & #janHochstadt from @cniostopcancer.bsky.social check it out: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Yet another reason why, in translational immuno-oncology, models are limited and human work must be done in parallel: An astounding 60% homology difference in PD-1 from rodent to human! www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Precursors of exhausted T cells are preemptively formed in acute infection At that stage early precursors show diversity; memory T cells but also cells with a phenotype, gene-expression, and epigenetic profile that resembles precursors of exhausted T cells. #ImmunoSky www.nature.com/artic... 1/3

You cannot underestimate all the positive and long-term benefits of having a supportive #mentor One could argue this is at least as important as the research topic 🧪 Do choose wisely.. #MentoringMonth

5,562 proteins were found to have tissue-specific enrichment across 32 human tissues. The majority of them (3,088) are enriched at the protein but not RNA level. The brain hosts the largest number of proteins that are only enriched at the protein level but not RNA level.

There's a really interesting new paper out in Science for people who care about immunity to flu (which should be everyone because flu is a VERY big problem): www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... Here's my thread explaining this work🧵
