1. The original Marvel Superheroes game (TSR) aka "FASERIP"- still the best supers game, scales up easily to handle Daredevil and Thor in the same session.
2. Fear Itself by Pelgrane Press - light rules modern investigative game (GUMSHOE engine).

Yellow King! Bought it, read it, loved it, no time to master and run it and have never had an opportunity to play it... YET!

Had a blast with Christophor on December's Spellburn too (Ep 139)! DON'T TOUCH THE RED WIRE!

Cute a-borning tentacle monster seeks island for sinister habitation. Must have isolation, cyclopean architecture. Age preferably ancient and prehuman. No smoking, headcases, Euclid. Chaotic inquiries only!

Welcome aboard... if you like gonzo + horror (+action!), you should have plenty to keep you going. Unhinged with a funky oldschool "appendix N" type vibe, a lot of which was Sword & Sorcery or Weird Fiction rooted in horror.

I just made a little one page hack-of-hacks because I really feel like more open-ended simple stuff and this is really cool. Definitely going to experiment with it and see what I can get going. PS- BUT WHERE ARE THE FEATS AND PRESTIGE CLASSES?!?!

I am a firm believer that in RPGs you should do all the stupid stuff you would not do in "real" "life"...

The old saw about sanboxy campaigns applies here. Just give them enough world to live in and as they start going to other parts, create that.
As a GM who might buy stuff my sincere request is... don't give me more small print cruft to read.

Agree. Also, let's worry about the neofascist takeover of the USA before this.

My experience is very limited. I've really only run some Fear Itself 5-6 times and I've really liked it because investigation stuff works great, combat/action/chase is easy to grok and mostly the system just stays the Hell out of the way which is what I'm seeking these days.

How do we know this didn't happen?

Same here, but still love AD&D, or at least the way I homebrew it (believe it or not, light and fast.) And still love MSH/FASERIP, such a great game. So many great S&S games out there, but I can't possibly think of a better way to do supers.

I tried but I couldn't hold out for #666! It looks awesome!

I try to minimize shopping as much as possible and get it done around the margins or offline before/after sessions actually occur as much as possible. Having some sort of wealth/resource stat to deal with stuff is perfectly good.

I always thought the 2E psionics handbook rules were the best implementation of an always-clunky system.

There is psionics for DCC (well, for Umerica, so y'know.) goodman-games.com/store/produc...

Excellent! I think most people in the DCC community would say make the game what you want, or just make your own game! That's the best of all worlds! What's it called?

Hey if you want to take it even further, write the game you like best!

p. 314 of the DCC Core book which has been out for 10 years: "Fear no rule. I know you will homebrew this game: I trust it will remain recognizable but diffrent from as I conceived it. Such is as it should be." Why worry? If you needed permission (which you don't), remove corruption and proceed.

Loved loved loved Patsy but never felt like she was done right after Defenders (yeah, old.) Like... who decided her best friend was She-Hulk at some point, when her best friend is obviously Val?!

Not bad at all... we always run a little long! It was great to have such cool stuff on the show.. rarely do we get to take advantage of the video element so much!

9 weeks for a funnel? That seems like a lot. How many zero level guys did you all burn through?

are we supposed to read games before running them?!?! That explains SO much

Since there's a compulsion, I think it's good practice to spell out the consequences of resisting the compulsion.
It's also early in DCC RPG publishing (2013) so maybe more useful at the time, whereas ppl now might ad lib more expertly.
