I’m a principal engineer. Same. Front: what would happen if we didn’t do this? Back: really?

Here I was not familiar with the “big 5”. Had myself convinced it was an ostrich until I saw your follow up.

We lose money on every transaction but we make it up in volume.

That’s one way to deal with hallucinated APIs.. “oh, that’s coming out in 3.4.x”

Like some of the circuitous loops feel like evasive maneuvers.

Feels like "space fighter sim pathing" for some reason.

I regularly do this with Todo lists. Have it write the first draft to a file, read that file with a critical eye and tell you the second draft.

No style preferences without a linter.

AI is great at all the undifferentiated heavy lifting that you need to build any app. To me, it’s an opportunity to be explicit about where you’re putting innovation tokens vs replicating the 7,000th OTP implementation.

I’ve never seen an EU oriented petition like this. Are they common? Effective? They happen in the states, but it feels mostly hopeful and not real. Not sure if it’s the same there.

How is it different? Is it more like a knot of PTSDs?

There are so many gems right there. I’m envious!

I like the bottom one better. Is that the consensus? Or do some people prefer the smooth one?

I’m still jealous of the male camaraderie I’ve seen and heard about in media from the ~40-50s. Not sure if that’s just historical rose colored glasses, propaganda, or the effects of war time.. but it sure would be rad if that were more ubiquitous.

The version of this I’ve done is just been their google. Whatever I say is the answer and it cuts down on search time.

Was trying to think through the equivalent of a leaked prompt to a traditional software. Feels closer to “leaked memo” than “leaked source”.

navigating the space between “no country is morally perfect and cons have to be held somewhere” and “this specific venue at this specific time represents an unacceptable level of risk and/or complicity” is inherently difficult, but exempting Western venues from scrutiny cannot be the baseline

I'm maintaining the java-sdk for @openfeature.dev, but most of my personal coding happens in Python. :)

There’s a meme going around saying “complete this sentence: ‘blame it on the..’” Options I’ve heard: - alcohol - boogie - rain

Every time I do something like this I think to myself “dear god you’re conditioning them!! They’ll be stronger/faster/more difficult to tire out”

I do mostly shop online. I went in a door at the supermarket labeled “customer entrance” which turned out to be the exit. There was no way to go backwards through the empty checkout stands bc they were all gated closed. Had to leave the building an re-enter in another door and I’m grumpy about it.

“Portland Missed” will be the running joke. :)

Turns out it’s on the list too, along with linkerd & OTel. Thanks for the confirmation and nice acronym though. :)

It’s been I don’t know how many years and I still find myself, when idly at an empty browser tab, typing plus.google.com 😅

I recently saw egg rolls but the insides were peach cobbler and I still want them.

awesome. it wasn’t clear what age range that is for?

Not clear from my perspective. I don’t recall trying to make a post. Might be a fave? Maybe a pocket post somehow?
