The recent update for Ubuntu is crashing my machine the whole time. Also the new compressor tool just seems to be baffling. I might try to roll back

At the moment I only have 119 supporters (who are all wonderful, and all my past supporters have been wonderful too) which earns me just £414 a month (before all the deductions). In short, I can't keep doing it without more funding and I can't keep self-funding it. www.bishuk.com/support/

Paying me to work on it for 2 days a week means I could be paid to answer questions, do the research, do the illustrations (yes I do those), write new resources, update the old resources, promote it all on social media, evaluations, reports etc. www.bishuk.com/support/

My concern with this data is, rather than tackling problems at source and focusing on improving wellbeing overall, there'll be increased pressure on families, schools, colleges and unis to meet to requests for mental health care that designated charities and providers can no longer do due to cuts

There are multiple causes of mental distress but many aren't being fully dealt with and systemic harms can cause or worsen them (including housing, friendships, parenting challenges, education, prejudice and more).
Noting increased prevalence with short term interventions as solutions isn't enough

Agreed. And a really great speaker would really help with that!

As @meadwaj.bsky.social points out though, he'd have had a better chance if the policies were clear, were about material interests (as @jemgilbert.bsky.social points out) and had a more straightforward story about what was wrong and how we would fix it.

One of the reasons that JC didn't do as well is that he's not as effective a communicator. This is why he was allowed to stand because the Labour Party grandees thought he'd have no chance.

The politicians we already have who can do this are snuffed out within a broader system. We don't have primaries. We have party whips. We don't have PR. So John McDonnel, Zarah Sultana etc are on the fringes or don't get airtime.

I think @meadwaj.bsky.social is right that it's to do with the policy. Being really clear about what it is and what it will do. But I agree with you too. Anyone who *does* have this power of oratory is snuffed out before they get chance. John Mc. Sultana. Etc. Probably whole US context diff too

I think Felix Guattari would call this an example of microfascism (and that the opposite might be microsocialism). There's a great podcast about it here pca.st/episode/dd53...
