Louder for everyone with a misconception of vouchers and charters. Let's call it what it is: defunding public schools

Early childhood is ā€˜magicā€™ for this Philadelphia school leader https://www.chalkbeat.org/philadelphia/2025/02/18/how-i-teach-philly-early-childhood-educator-lgbtq-community/

BREAKING: Indigenous activist Leonard Peltier released from prison after nearly 50 years

In the courtroom for the CUNY 8 ahead of a hearing on a motion to dismiss. Legendary defense attorney Ron Kuby is here, as is roughly a hundred keffiyeh-clad supporters who've packed the minuscule courtroom, with a hundred more in the hall. A supporter handed out pink carnations to each defendant.

Frederick Douglass was born into slavery in February, 1818. He later chose to celebrate his birthday on February 14th.

Find a protest near you. We can't promote wildlife and save what little is left without addressing the political situation we find ourselves in. The radical right must be stopped. Get involved Get in this fight www.mobilize.us/indivisible/

I also remind myself regularly that while I "care" about many things, I cannot do all of the things. It's a big reason I am anti yelling at people who become newly engaged in something that I care about. They are probably like me in caring about a lot but only being able to act on a few things.

I always talk to my students (teachers and teacher candidates) about our responsibilities as educators. I think now more than ever is being informed and resisting

And we will protect pur students. We we are tired-exhausted-and always fighting uphill battles. But we are here and I want to believe most of us won't just be mildly in disagreement but actually put up a fight

The attacks on the Dep. of Education will not stand. The courts will strike these illegal EOs down just like all the others. In times of great turmoil Bring hope to the people We will prevail

Our coalition is a peaceful resistanceā€”a group of tree-huggers dedicated to keeping Americans informed.

if your press statement about a thing happening is just words and no call to action or note of next steps your group is taking, itā€™s very hard to make people care and not just tune you out. ā€œx person forcefully condemns y thingā€ yeah and what else

i just cannot get over how much the administrationā€™s response to the crash shows a profound disrespect for the lives of the people they are supposed to serve

The FTC under Lina Khan: -Stopped anticompetitive mergers -Cracked down on junk fees -Challenged Big Pharma price-gouging -Stood up to monopolies like Amazon -Protected farmers' right to repair She's been an avid antitrust enforcer and defender of working people.

Just because something is "easy" or "simple" for YOU doesn't mean it is for others.

As educators it is our responsibility to protect our students. Please make sure to talk to families and make sure they are okay

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research. Iā€™m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or ā€œpauseā€ in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.

Same goes for higher ed faculty in education doing multiple step research rants for 1K. As having dine both, it's ridiculous that our actual job responsibilities need to be supplemented with our own money and our own grant writing as education continues to be defunded

Thank you everyone who's helping us regain our following . We simply can't let some fascist billionaire ruin all our hard work. Together we can build back bigger and better than ever. Join the park side and lets build a better world, for all of us. @altyellonatpark.org

Virginia Tech professor and poet, Nikki Giovanni, has died at the age of 81.

As winter approaches, I want to offer a simple way to support some houseless neighbors in your communities: get some folks together and make some winter kits for distribution. #Warm4Holidays. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

the clear sign that they just donā€™t see these kids as real people is the endless concern over hypotheticals and the indifference to the reality that actual children are more likely to kill themselves because of these bans

I share this opportunity with young people over 18 every year. NYC is hiring emergency snow shovelers. Snow shovelers will be paid $18.54 per hour, and $27.81 per hour after the first 40 hours worked in a week. They've hired some formerly incarcerated people I referred. www.nyc.gov/html/dot/htm...

Good morning from @altyellonatpark.org

Two stages of writing: 1) This shouldn't take too long 2) Oh no

Letter carriers across the U.S. are dealing with worse conditions on the job and stagnating wages. After a tentative agreement between USPS and union leadership fell far short of what was promised ā€”Ā with just a 1.3% raise ā€” workers are fighting back. substack.perfectunion.us/p/usps-worke...

I brought wonderful books from #NCTE24, met some amazing authors and missed others šŸ˜...now as I'm reading them during breakfast, my 3 year old keeps tells me to 1) read them aloud to him 2) keep reading! If you know, I maybe stop to eat? Loving this book by David Bowles and Charlene Bowles

Tyron McAlpin, the deaf Black man with cerebral palsy who was beaten by Phoenix police, plans to sue the city and the officers for $3.5 million

This is my 2nd year at #NCTE24 Last year I was lost, finding my place-this year I was able to learn more about others' work, meet amazing Latine elders and reconnect with mentors who paved the way for me to not just imagine being here but to be here. Truly inspired to get involved because of them
