I really didn't follow that trial here, although billboards and signs have been all over Massachusetts.

"The university, by any objective measure, [IS] completely outmatched by laptop warriors like Rufo, who have utterly changed the game when it comes to shaping public opinion about higher education."

Writing is hard

This helped me a TON!!! Submitted!!

Teen years! 😥

I am spending this week finishing a paper that uses this data extensively. It's almost unfathomable how stupid our leadership would have to be to compromise the quality of this information.

Unplugged a bit this weekend, now on a plane back to Boston. I'm realizing I missed a lot...😫

Bluesky right now:

Its more telling that the American "leader" on education has no idea who Ruby Bridges is!!

The child in this trustee’s scenario? Faculty. Who submitted their tenure files for consideration in accordance with the terms of their employment. Both sides have a responsibility in that contract, one to submit and one to review. I hope everyone really hears this.

Seems important to note that accreditors have discretion over these decisions, so they can ignore what the federal government says. Also important to note that the federal government is threatening to go after accreditors.

Still can't get over a UNC board member labeling faculty as children. AWFUL!!

Tenure isn't guaranteed; individuals largely control their own destiny. While there are horror stories, most tenure-track faculty members are familiar with the process. UNC is signaling that tenure awards may now be linked to the university's financial situation on a year-to-year basis. #HigherEd

"In Massachusetts, over two dozen colleges and universities have closed or merged over the past decade due to financial and enrollment difficulties."

As children many of us read a few folktales including the "Big Bad Wolf" and we all understood how the wolf portrayed himself as a "good faith" character. As observers of these stories, even as children, we knew the wolf was up to no good. College presidents should read these stories. 🤷🏾‍♂️😞

"Few had to do with how he would run the University of Florida; ...... most questions focused on DEI." They didn't care about his administrative capabilities or his expertise. He didn't have a record of attacking marginalized groups or bonafide conservative chops. He ultimately played himself.

The President's proposed FY26 budget would end funding for TRIO. This is the first signal of programs getting cut this year, and the question now is how widespread it will become.

Read this bill y'all.... The experiments in Florida and Texas will continue to spread.

I've raised this question/thought a few times with colleagues. If higher ed sees significant changes over the next few years, how are journals and manuscript selections going to remain unscathed? I don't see it, but maybe I'm a pessimist. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Check this out from a colleague.

“Life is better when we leap together.” Kermit the Frog delivered a commencement speech at the University of Maryland on Thursday, the alma mater of his creator, Jim Henson. nyti.ms/4dwMuhQ

At what point, is enough? “Harvard can no longer enroll foreign students and existing foreign students must transfer or lose their legal status,” the US Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.

The budget and tax bill that just passed the House by one vote is the biggest set of changes to higher education policy in decades, more consequential than several Higher Education Act reauthorizations. Next up: the Senate.

Here’s how Trump’s war on science is going. NSF funding is at the lowest level in decades. We’ll lose knowledge, generations of scientists, and US competitiveness. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

"...she said it was time for Americans to rethink whether degrees from four-year universities were necessary, save for students seeking a select handful of professions." The goal: Destroy American higher education! This is a very simple message. This is just the first round of hits.
