If you have a device that CAN run Apple Intelligence you need to turn this off as well as the general Apple Intelligence setting. Settings > Screen Time > scroll down to Content and Privacy > turn on Restrictions > Intelligence and Siri > turn off the first three options

My Star Trek watch has finally made it to "It's Green". I'd had seen the scene with Scotty getting an alien drunk before. When The Next Generation did a call back to it with Data and a much older Scotty I always loved it as fun tribute to the original. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQAG...

I once worked on a visual novel game where all the surveys and focus groups said that nobody wanted romance, they only wanted mystery and sci-fi. Then 75+% of clicks in-game went to stories with explicit romantic or sexy themes. www.pcgamer.com/gaming-indus...

companies listening to what people say they want instead of making art and just giving them something has been ruinous for games, movies and more for the last 10-15 years

I’ve been doing a watch of the original Trek for the first time ever and just came across one of the truest and most profound things ever written into it. After Spock feels the deaths of a Vulcan ship in a nearby system

any excuse to share one of the all time bangers from the hellsite

Need a good audiobook for your weekend? Well my monster is still just 4.99 on Chirp!

Just one of so many things I've missed (I'm sure) knowing was coming - rectified this one immediately with a pre-order in audio from libro.fm. Can't wait!

Lol, I could do a personal thread of "movies I have watched more than 6 times, gifs only" that would probably go on for days.

Well, that's a ruling. Get out there and do it.

In the last couple weeks I've managed to get the Slay the Spire achievement for winning with only common cards & winning with only 1 relic, so I feel like I can finally move on with my life and play other games again. The Spire will eventually drag me back to try & get ascension 20 though, I'm sure.

Wait - we're sharing dope live performances of the past? Ok, let me join in with the video that made me finally understand that Heart was awesome and not just a band with a couple far too overplayed songs (even if this performance is one of them): www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRKN...

Was out of town a few days. While traveling home I found a little used record store and picked up a few things. #nowspinning one of them: “Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus” by Spirit. This album was a special find for me as it once was part of the inspiration for one of my published short stories.

Hmmm. No greater point to make here about conversations going on about fictional villains except to say if feels like a good time to once again say Aaron from Titus Adronicus is an all-time fav of mine:

Folks, be careful with the stuff you share - it's best to take a moment to check anything that doesn't have a link to a reputable news source. For example, I just saw a picture being shared about the Tennessee National Guard "laying down their shields" to join protest - it's 4 years old, not now.

And note: The BBC is using some AI tools itself, it isn’t exactly hostile to the tech. The facts are simply that it *is not* a tech that can provide knowledge, expertise or trustworthy research.

Well, this is a nice improvement to search, one of my biggest wants on this thing. Still needs more improvement there - like being able to search just the posts of people who follow you or who you follow or to be able to search a specific feed. But better is better!

Not even the first time lawyers have filed false information with a court of law because they used AI instead of doing their job.

#nowspinng an album that was new-to-me this year, and is an absolute joy. “Streetcore” by Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros.

I should note, that I recognize that my strong dislike of multiplayer with strangers is both a function of my personality and age and that probably the majority of video-game players are totally fine with it or even consider it the norm.

Yep. This is a long, long standing conservative ploy. Break government-run stuff on purpose to justify privatizing it because "government-run stuff" doesn't work. Its one reason they always demand non-conservative governments add in things that will make the services suck.

Gotta say, I love/loved Elden Ring, but if the new game really is focusing on multi-player that requires 3 (i.e. just two can't play together, it's solo or triple only) and doesn't have cross-play then I suspect I probably won't be bothering to get it. I do not enjoy gaming with strangers.

It doesn’t matter what volume you were listening to music at, when N.I.B. comes on you have to turn it up. Thems the rules.

It came into shallow water.........it came...into SHALLOW water.... Look, this very cool, I feel luck to have seen it, I am 10000% affirmed in my belief that oceans are utterly terrifying. (I have been in the ocean, I have been on the ocean, these things did not lesson my feelings in any way).

Look, anything could still happen, running on a lot of hypotheticals right now, but I am taking some happiness from the fact that Canada seems very much not to have an appetite for the Conservatives so much as they, understandably, hungered for change.

#nowspinning some hard bop from my absolute favourite: Art Blakey, in this case “Moanin’” from Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. (Newly acquired yesterday!)

What colour is the boathouse at Hereford? Time for a favourite comfort watch of mine: Ronin.

A local chapter of the DSA in (Mississippi? I forget) held a clinic to fix people's broken car lights for free. Get people in, give them something to make their life less stressful, shake their hand, give out the chapter's email and phone number, say thank you for coming by, hope to see you again.
