Yes. It seems like they didn’t get nearly as many people as they’d hope to accept the deferred resignation program and now they’re trying to mentally break them and get them to quit. They want agencies to fail.

the lead is that he’s not legally qualified: “Caine has not served in any of the roles — Joint Chiefs vice chairman, chief of staff for one of the branches of the armed service, or head of a combatant command — that nominees are legally required to have performed in order to be nominated.”

I could have imagined a lot of things in American politics but not a normalization of Nazi salutes and such tentativeness by the media to call them what they are. They are Nazi salutes. It’s not owning the libs. It’s not joking. It’s fascism. If you give a Nazi salute, you’re a fascist. Just say it.

Side note. There are eight members of the joint chiefs. the chair is black. the CNO (navy) is a woman. the other six are white guys. chair and the cno got fired tonight.

2/21/25: Five years into being a full-time bikeist. Today was the first time I COULDN'T use my bike. Neighborhood bikeways in Denver are unplowed (as always). 8" of fresh snow and car tire tracks on frozen roads make it impossible to get any traction. Today Denver chose to force everyone into cars.

“Donald Trump was cultivated as a Russian asset over 40 years and proved so willing to parrot anti-western propaganda that there were celebrations in Moscow, a former KGB spy has told the Guardian.” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021...

This is 100% correct — I have heard the Silicon Valley money guys admit as much out loud, about *all* of these fools.

This is horrible for the future of American science and innovation and economic wellbeing and all the things Pitt is not a small institution It has nearly 10K grad students It is where Salk discovered the polio vaccine

After a college student finally found a treatment that worked, the insurance giant decided it wouldn’t pay for the costly drugs. His fight to get coverage exposed the insurer’s hidden procedures for rejecting claims. (Published Feb. 2023)

The US, Russia, and the richest man in the world who is busy carrying out a coup in our government, are coordinating a brutal shakedown of an ally whose very existence depends on our support. This is repulsive and people need to understand we’re only in the beginning of what is possible.

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

I don’t understand how there’s any debate about whether to characterize them as Nazis when they’re out here sieg heiling. It’s an absolute failure of messaging not to name and condemn this behavior, and build a narrative around it.

KEEP PUSHING! If they won’t do a town hall DEMAND ONE

Don’t be a nice person…

Soon it will be too late. Congress must act. Republicans deserve relentless protests and demands for their acquiescence to this man solidifying power to overrun our democracy.

The massive underground facility, which has been used to store archives since the 1960s, remains a crucial but convoluted hub for US government records.

NEW: Elon Musk’s team has descended on an already understaffed Social Security Administration, which now faces further workforce cuts and closures of vital local offices. The consequences could be significant for millions of the most vulnerable Americans.

Rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, and other climate impacts are throttling cocoa production and driving up chocolate prices.

Universal health care is a cornerstone of every other developed country, but in the US, coverage is fragmented among those with private insurance, government programs and a sizable uninsured population. In the US large swaths of the population are being sentenced to death by lack of coverage. 🧵

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Friday that he was firing Admiral Lisa Franchetti, the first female officer to rise to the Navy’s top job of Chief of Naval Operations, and would be looking for her replacement.

One of the big questions with coups is who the military sides with. It's a big question now. Does the firing of a whole lot of leadership make the military now more malleable, or does it anger and alienate a lot of people down the chain of command? www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

COMMENTARY: When government shuts out journalists and the public we serve, it's not a sign of strength. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oldZ...

Doing this right before firing three top military leaders is so deranged. Source at DoD told me, “Disdain for Hegseth is a near-universal feeling even among the Trumpiest in the office.“

My weekly list of must-read articles, some organizing resources, and a reflection on the ascent of Kash Patel. What should we expect from an FBI headed by a Trump acolyte? How can our communities prepare? I have some thoughts, history, and resources to share on the subject.

Send Dems into rural America to talk about what Trump is doing. The Republicans are too scared and won’t show their faces…in the vacuum of messaging, there is power. Tell the folks who is hurting them. Point to the GOP. Be the foil to the shit that’s happening. Be the party of the people.

Pay attention to this. Replacing JAGs with loyalists enables whatever orders Trump and Hegseth issue to be interpreted as lawful.

How does firing Americans help make America great again? Cutting 5-8% of the workers is unproductive and harmful to our economy and society. This is just simply reckless and unsustainable. www.cnn.com/2025/02/21/p...

NEW YORK (AP) — Dow tumbles 748 points, and S&P 500 has worst drop in 2 months after discouraging reports on the US economy.

Just a reminder that fascists, authoritarians, dictators of all stripes destroy archives— books, museums, databases, &c— because those things provide windows onto a plurality of other ways we might organize the world. And so preserving, defending, and spreading that knowledge harms those regimes.

#teslatakedown I made some protest art.

Shorter: I voted for him because I wanted him to hurt other people. Just not me or my people. The others. The others, only.

A defining policy battle is about to come to a head in this country. The Republican budget will force everyone - especially Congress and the White House - to make plain whether they are prepared to harm the rest of us in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest.

Although the jobs are wide-ranging, there is a common thread in what the state’s federal workers are feeling: chaos.

the stock market is now below where it was when Joe Biden left office

An entire government built on the premise of owning the libs. Revolting.

The decision will be made official by a document from Acting Director and Musk lackey Leland Dudek. As of last week, Dudek worked in the department he just axed.

We talk about MAGA disinfo, then people on our side of fighting fascism are still like, Trump is a Russian asset? That sounds too much like a crime thriller, can't be true. Study history from countries occupied by Russia. Buying off corrupt traitors was how Russia ensured help of local collaborators

Watch my short documentary Stalin's Secret Genocide featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Anne Applebaum, Tim Snyder, among other experts on the Soviet Union, on how Russian genocidal imperialism in Ukraine builds on Stalin's terror. It was shown at the UN in 2016 youtu.be/Sr5WkhEiqcY?...

"Medicaid covers half of all long-term care spending, according to KFF. That care is key for women, who live longer than men."

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Just so everybody is clear on Republican priorities: We put up an amendment to make sure nobody making over $500 million gets a tax cut. Republicans voted against it.

Trump coddling Putin sends the message that dictators can operate with impunity & have a friend in the US. It’s abhorrent & Americans should rightly be disgusted by it.

HEADS UP! We need to give this story more attention. This is the next phase - investigations of those who criticize Trump, Musk or SCOTUS. It’s already started. It is a campaign of intimidation designed to silence criticism. wapo.st/3X8d75G
