Gorgeous essay. I stop halfway through writing a book and write the ending, then write toward it from the middle on. This is an entirely different approach.

I am so lucky in my friends. Or maybe it's that I'm choosey.

They can start at my house.

After the revelation of a momentous "family secret" a few years ago, my brother asked me, "Is there anything else I don't know?" Now, stop and think about that. How do I know what he doesn't know? Do I just spill the entire mess on him, hoping to catch him up on how strange our family is, or what?

Take a minute and listen.
