“Well, egg prices were high and one candidate was older so a bunch of people voted for a different old guy who was an insurrectionist. Then there were no more election.”
You’re just following behind Australia’s lead since last year so I’ll tell where this ends up. I go to my major retail grocers and their egg section is 25% the size it was. And if you’re not there when they get a delivery it’s completely empty the whole day
The trump lesson…instead of fixing the problem, follow our profit-as-solution leaders & make $ by investing in the alternative egg market. The global egg substitutes market was valued at $1.1 billion in 2022 & is projected to reach $5.2 billion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 16.6% from 2023 to 2032.
Inflation potentially complicating Trumps agenda? Inflation at 3% in January. So far he hasn’t given the least bit of attention to inflation. I would suggest you not plan on him doing so in the future either.
From my understanding it may not be till next year where it will come down. But this damn bird flu has been on and off with respect to eggs for the last couple of years. Now more than ever we need NIH and CDC to figure out cures for this stuff along with working with the USDA to enforce these things
The bird flu mutates quickly and wild birds have stopped flying south due to climate change (see fun snow in Florida). They are working on ways to mitigate it but there is a chance this is the new egg price.
If we don’t address climate change inflation will continue to be an issue.
Thanks for the explanation makes a lot of sense and I didn't think to connect the two dots but yeah that could be a focus that we need to really look at that climate change is here and unless we reverse it this is just one of many things that could go wrong because bird flu is in cows now
Bill Gates did say the world is going to go through one or two things another pandemic or a World War. The Chinese predicted the next pandemic would be due to the pigs and the mess that was created when Trump put the first tariff
The Chinese basically when they couldn't get American soybeans the farmers would feed the pigs nothing but anything that was there including human or animal feces and so those pigs got sick and got African swine flu which is you know those little ticks and stuff
At my closest grocery store they were about $9 for 18 eggs and the same day I stopped at another nearby store and saw them for over $23 for 18 eggs. Quite a difference
Eggs are still a pretty cheap protein source compared to meat, even at $7/doz. If it was only eggs I’d shrug and buy something else, but it’s every single thing. You can cut out things, but you can only go so far and maintain your health.
That’s a valid choice, and a great one for the planet. We have meatless meals pretty often, but I found I cannot meet my protein needs in a vegan diet. Chronic anemia and B12 runs right through me. I just hope we all can get enough to eat.
Mr went to store yesterday and took a picture the 18 eggs I usually pay around $7 for was $15.99 and a dozen organic was $5 he asked if that was normal 😳🤷🏼♀️ no it is not. Outrageous how out of control everything is since 🍊💩🤡
trump (aka dipshit) has interrupted NIH research CDC research and notifications by both. That’s just enough room for another pandemic. dipshit believes if you ignore it and don’t report it. Then there cannot be a problem. It’s pure ignorance, pure denialism and derelict of duty. Bc he’s a dipshit
It was never about the price of groceries. The large number of trumpers in my town have quit pretending it was. It was always about hate for minorities and owning liberals. The hoods (red hats) are off and the racism is on full display in my rural area of NC.
Sorta like Woody Allen in "Annie Hall" telling the old Catskills joke about two ladies talking about the food. "The food here is terrible" and "Such small portions"
I live in SW FL. Publix has eggs in stock but I think between our "freedom" focused governor DCrazy & our new HHS director they could be bird flu infected but they'd put them on the shelf. I have ZERO TRUST.
trump claimed he was in charge the day after the election. Biden brought inflation down while saving the country from a deep recession. Now inflation is on the rise and he blames Biden. This guy has it every way he wants it. The upcoming recession his agenda is inviting will be blamed on Biden too.
It more than seems crazy that eggs are either unavailable, hard to get or at daft high prices - but don't worry, Trump is on top of things. He's worried about straws. He might get around to the real basic, day to day stuff eventually?
I can still find them but they’re $7.60/dozen as of last week. I buy two and tell my mom I found them cheaper/had a coupon/fib so she doesn’t get mad that I’m buying her eggs (because she can’t afford them anymore).
In MAGA morality, if too many of The Wrong People prosper, that sort of literally indiscriminate prosperity is worse than general across-the-board poverty.
Around the world there isn't a problem. They are still abundant and reasonably priced compared to us. I have family in Asia, Australia, and Europe and all have said - No problem here.
With just Hubby and me here, we've had a tendency to let them expire because we must have eggs on hand but don't eat them often.
Having baked a cake the other day, I plan to follow instructions online to lightly scramble and then vac-seal and freeze in known quantities. Two per pouch, I think.
It's like The Simpsons but real, I can hear Principal Skinner explaining "They promised lower cost for eggs, and because there are none to buy, you now have spent less money for eggs, so now your costs have lowered. See kids how it is really a win-win for everyone!" https://youtu.be/P9yruQM1ggc?si=114Ao5dW2HHVcA_T
With the Great Egg Shortage of 2025, Americans have found themselves in a scramble to maintain their favorite dishes without the trusty egg. The result? A nation that's leaner, meaner, & egg-cidentally healthier!
We are going to see reports of egg smuggling from Canada. The same Canada that your dictator-in-chief denigrates on a daily basis and blames for all your woes. As a Canadian just piss off.
I wish we could pin Avian flu handling on him but it's no one's fault that I know of unless tariff related. Naturally he'll point to Dems because that's his auto deflection disorder. I'm waiting for indications of how long repopulating healthy birds take. Guessing a year.
When I went shopping recently, the egg shelves were almost bare. A man was pulling almost the last of several cartons from the shelves. I commented, “You’re stocking up!” He replied that he needs them for his business. I asked what he makes, and he said Doughnuts.
Meanwhile here in Singapore, a country with barely any farming at all, the supermarket was running a buy 2 get one free on eggs when I was there Monday...
Sprouts near me has been out for two weeks. I buy an extra dozen eggs when I see any. Who would have thought a plate of deviled eggs would be a luxury?
I think you took my comment too literally. I am not arguing for higher egg prices. I am just saying that given the supply and demand of this item, the price could be higher.
So? If you sell out of everything at a price you're good with, sounds like you did everything you wanted to do. What if you raise the price and only sell half?
Slightly higher? Too high and I won't buy the damn things. I can do without. Baking - I'll use flaxseed. Flaxseed "eggs" can replace real eggs in baking quite well in many recipes.
My husband is vegan for the next 40 days, so I can watch everyone else deal with the cost and shortage. HOWEVER, he does want Hass avocados, and the cost is up. So, I didn't buy them either. 😎

Now under Trump it’s eggs?

I expect some press briefing very soon.
This is NOT an issue.
They make substitute such as "Simply Eggless"
If we don’t address climate change inflation will continue to be an issue.
Amazing how all the people blaming Biden for egg prices are now supply chain experts 🙄
So there’s that..
They are now a form of currency. Biden would never be that clever.

No eggs but more money in the pocket.
A diary worker in Nevada has bird flu.

So...."day one" is the new "infrastructure week" for Trump 2.0?
Trumpanomics!
Oh wait that was also during Trump lmao - so it's a trend!

The courts have halted many if not most of Trump's disastrous whims (Executive Orders).
And...
Tesla sales keep going down (this one is my favorite).

Elon Musk holds the Purse of the United States of America. This is illegal.
Our economy will continue to crash if Elon isn’t removed.
I'd show a grocery receipt, but after the grocery bill I couldn't afford to pay for the paper it was printed on.
Yesterday with the same cash I would buy 12 only got 4…..
Good thing they limit customers to two 🙄
