I talked to NIH officials, current and former, about what's been happening inside the agency since the Trump administration shut down their grantmaking pipeline in January. Their stories showed just how willing our new leaders are to break the law: www.theatlantic.com/health/archi...

Do you want to illuminate your studies on innate immune responses? Our new biosensor monitors mtDNA from apoptosis, viral infections, other sources of dsDNA and environmental cGAMP. We also show that micro nuclei are poor activators of the #STING response

While artificial intelligence and quantum computing insiders have both been guilty of hyping up their products, only the latter group appears to still be applying proper scientific rigour to their field

In 2017 I had the absolute privelege of hearing a plenary by Sean B Carroll at #Dros17. He told the story of Albert Camus and Jacques Monod. In 1940 occupied France, Monod pursued his Nobel-winning research by day & resistance by night. Read "Brave Genius": www.seanbcarroll.com/brave-genius... 1/2

Our latest work: how can compartmentalization emerge in a eukaryotic genome lacking canonical heterochromatin? By investigating bacterial genomes put in yeast, we show that the presence or absence of transcription is sufficient! #chromatin #3Dgenome #generegulation www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... 👇

Check it out! Another novel RNA modification - ADP-ribosylation - that was previously only known on proteins. A cousin to #glycoRNA 👏 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Very happy to see some of my unpublished PhD data (more than 10 years ago) eventually ending up in a paper ! Argonaute 2 targets viral transcripts but not genomes of RNA viruses during antiviral RNA interference in Drosophila. Congrats to Joao T. Marques, @cmeignin.bsky.social and all co-authors !

Check out our most recent preprint where we describe Mecp2 as a régulatrice of cGAS-STING associated signaling. 🧪🔥

Happy to share our latest piece of work on the PARIS bacterial immune system. We performed a detailed characterization of the AriB Toprim nuclease, the effector of PARIS immunity. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

📢Job alert We have two postdoctoral positions available, starting in Spring 2025. These positions are part of research funded by an ERC Advanced Grant, focused on exploring evolutionary immunology (Evo-Immuno). #Postdoc #InnateImmunity Do not hesitate to contact us. ibmc.cnrs.fr/en/laboratoi...

I am thrilled to share our latest work, released today 🤩 www-nature-com.insb.bib.cnrs.fr/articles/s41... It results from years of hard work by the team and long-time collaborators, with special thanks to PhD student Clara Roidor and collaborator Laurène Syx.

It’s crazy how talking with a science buddy is simultaneously what’s most likely to move the project forward and the thing that’s least prioritized in our schedule.

Anti-venom spat out of a computer ! Thank you David Baker !

For those wondering, epsiloncoronavirus has already been described (www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...). It’s from European badgers and related to Zeta, but distant enough to be a new genus. Not clear if segmented. So, there’s huge untapped diversity out there.

I released the LUT finder: A plugin to see all your ImageJ / Fiji LUTs in a table with previews, auto generated descriptions and filtering! You can try it with the KTZ_LUTs update site or from github.com/kwolbachia/L.... I'm looking for your feedbacks! #FluorescenceFriday #MicroscopyMonday

Finally, some good news!

Joe is my favorite microscopist - artist, so lucky to have him in our lab @viroscope.bsky.social 😊

To get 2025 off to a good start, I'm delighted to share with you our study published today in @naturemicrobiol.bsky.social 🎉 We studied the ability of the receptor-binding proteins (RBP) of >100 animal viruses to mediate entry into human cells. A short thread below. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Incredibly excited to share that our manuscript was just published in @nature.com ! What a way to start the new year! 🎉 https://buff.ly/4gyYCzx We present phylowave, a framework that enables to learn the fitness dynamics of pathogens from phylogenies. 🧵 A thread... 1/n #IDSky #IDModelling
