- took my kid to see a college that embraced DEI - took my kid to see another college that embraced DEI - took my kid to see yet another college that embraced DEI - made a point to support local businesses instead of those that stopped DEI programs - Used pronouns

Had three eggs for lunch as a little treat.

Context for what’s happening here. open.substack.com/pub/sherrily...

I miss you already, Burlington. Vermont is the best and would definitely make a good place for kid to go to college who likes clean air, a focus on sustainability, and lots of barns chock full of animals.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

Visiting the most important part of any college during Feb. break touring season: the horse barn.

Can’t adequately explain the disconnect between spending this week looking at colleges with the 16 year old as tour guides espouse their school’s DEI progress and and fed research money while also being someone who consumes a lot of news.

Took my HS junior to see a research university today and it was so sad thinking about the loss in science funding. And when the students leading the tour proudly talked about diversity and inclusion efforts on campus I found myself nearly despondent for all that’s going to change. And for no reason.

So here’s the thing about public service. MOST federal employees are grossly underpaid for what they do. They do it because it’s meaningful. The very people Trump is putting out of work and replacing with “learn to code” weasels, also worked for government wages.

Most people don't know this but Ancient Rome was fully remote until Julius Caesar implemented a return to office program and well you know what happened next

And all these guys fly private. They don’t care.

What a clusterfuck. Nukes and bird flu. Silicon Valley not really sending its best.

Breaking: 'Executive order' cited as reason for sudden closure of JFK Library, a Boston landmark https://www.wcvb.com/article/jfk-library-boston-closed-trump-executive-order/63832670

These fees are not a problem for those who don’t worry about overdrafts. And this is yet another reason why it’s important to have people in government that are actually representative of the people they serve.

I am not making this up: Republicans have introduced legislation… to increase your bank fees.

Took my teen to see Love Hurts on this snowy Sunday. Absolutely adore Ke Huy Quan.

Trump is coming for you, too, SPED MAGA. It’s not just democrat families that will suffer with the attacks on our loved ones.

Not true. I'll give you some examples of when styles crossed over from womenswear to menswear, and how men have worn straight-up womenswear or just feminine styles in cool ways. 🧵

I’ve never liked either party saying they had to “save the country” during campaigning because it cheapens the meaning of the sentiment à la The Boy Who Cried Wolf. Now is the crisis and I wonder if people are immune to the phrase.

I needed books and chocolate today. Cafes and local bookstores will keep my business as long as I have a little money to share.

From the new Dear Colleague Letter out of the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights on race and education: “It would, for instance, be unlawful for an educational institution to eliminate standardized testing to achieve a desired racial balance or to increase racial diversity.”

Already tired of hearing Republicans complain their states will be collateral damage because of Trump’s attacks on the government. Would they be okay if these criminal actions just affected blue states? This winner take all bullshit doesn’t work in a society. And I’ve only ever seen one side do it.
