btw i think the two references to “the death of ivan ilych,” especially the way they are framed the same (spoiler alert, and don’t tell me) supports this theory in some way: esp b/c of the musings on the fear of death and fhe separation of life into authentic and artificial lives.

i don’t really see them except on threads, where everyone is largely stupid about it. so, avoiding there lol

i just think it’s also so much about what we do and what we will do with grief—how to avoid/battle against it for some, that it feels like some variant of immortality or reincarnation is in there somewhere!

also i agree that ricken is a goat re: rock climbing lmao

the dr. said she will “sire generations” or something, so i she & mark are somehow ideal specimens for this b/c they were targeted in the fertility clinic.

anyway mine is that they’re working on putting the consciousness of dead/dying/old people into younger bodies. the goats are tests for this in some way, each room gemma is in is from a slightly different era and they’re testing to see how well it takes into her brain/memory each time, or something.

it’s very strange to understand that his stupidity is one of the things that got us here and yet it was also so far removed from the way this admin has sucked all the decorum and gravitas out of the position like wtf

i think this is going to be part of the overarching work of the show/what’s going on at Lumon—not exactly but, related.

“We took away your art because we thought it would reveal your souls. Or to put it more finely, we did it to prove you had souls at all.”

anyway, severance feels like it’s part of a thematic universe that i am very fond of that don’t seem to go together at first but to me they do; this week made me think again about what it has in common with “never let me go.”

i think the why is because these pants are from j.crew circa 2012
comment in response to post
kind of same but what is even left to say about this except it looks so stupid

that feeling has to go somewhere, and it can’t always go into tangible positive action elsewhere; sometimes it just sits in you and 🤷🏻‍♀️

same at single issue anti-abortion voters re: rfk. you’re motivated by dead babies, you say? well, he’s one way to get a lot of them, hello measles.

there were a few moments in the last two episodes where something more real from him popped up and i was like OOOOO (the outside convo w/ mark s., and his, somewhat pointed comment @ Devon about finances & selling out)
comment in response to post
it makes sense but i also think he is annoying. i think people are vastly underrating the importance he potentially had as a character tho.

anyway off to write that hit song alone in my principles.

Celine 👍🏻 too mid-rise to be vintage lol

Agreed on both points, but i still wouldn’t be surprised!

tbh i think that’s probably an underlying goal of his—he much more aligns with the tradcath movement, which theologically comes across as more evangelical and culturally incel, so it wouldn’t surprise me if excommunication allows him to be his own thing and woe is me victim for getting kicked out.

are you knitting continental or english style? i cant seem to understand the former but its supposed to be easier on the hands!

i was expecting the artificial berry too! it has a lot more depth than i expected—wore it today and it fades really nicely for me! i don’t usually love gourmands so this is encouraging
comment in response to post
i held off on buying this after seeing it on tiktok because i’ve had a few blind buys go poorly and be disgusting! but they had this in an anthro i popped into and was very surprised!
