Bessent's net worth is $521 million. He has no understanding of how badly these decisions are hurting regular folks.

I think he did a great job! Even strong tea!
Sorry to see rude people here who think it's ok to insult someone's kid.

The video is a fake, from a month ago. He hung the Declaration of Independence in his office. It has to be protected from light.

I'd rather they just tax us less. Didn't that used to be a GOP rally cry?

The GOP Congress can stop this but they don't want to, even as our 401ks are now 201ks.
"Just wait" is something that only makes sense to our billionaire rulers, not regular folks.

It's the weekend, though - PBS News Weekend is always more long-form and less current-day news than PBS NewsHour. I think they do some of the taping in advance, like today's story about hair.
They had David Brooks on last night, though, calling for revolution.

In fairness, Trump's Commerce dept. had their mind on other things, like final exams and papers. It's a lot to juggle.

ICYMI: A whistleblower tells Congress and NPR that DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data and hid its tracks. "None of that ... information should ever leave the agency," said a former NLRB official.

@tastinghistory.bsky.social had a recent pineapple video about that, and he told how pineapples were so expensive people *rented* them. Like how influencers today rent broken jets to take selfies inside them - displays of wealth without the high cost of ownership.

Troy Nehls won't meet with constituents even for things like visiting Scout troops, helping access DC tours... and he's never held a town hall, and will not answer phones or email.
We're still trying, he's still hiding, and people are noticing and talking. #TX-22 #TX22 #KatyTx #Nehls

Yes, we've put ourselves behind the 8-ball. Next national elections are November 2026, for all seats in the House of Representatives and 33 Senate seats. Plus more than half the states elect a governor on that day too.

Biden, too, was a problem. Terrible comms teams, should've kept his promise to be a 1-term POTUS and given Harris winning, impactful work to help her future candidacy as a quasi-incumbent, & he mistakenly believed that the GOP wasn't insane. Plus, gaslighting about costs of goods for everyday folks.

Harris did not inspire Dems to vote.
1. Campaigned only in a few places.
2. Turned away help from longtime Dems in those areas b/c she didn't want to listen to their anti-genocide pleas
3. On issues that were not as important to most as the inflation
4. With people like Liz Cheney.

The Atlantic's @davidfrum.bsky.social had a well-written argument against farmer carve-outs (www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc... ):
1. Voted for him.
2. Windfall profits last time.
3. Current subsidies help them weather this better than the rest of us.

USA Today: (www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...) more than 500,000 people RSVP'd, and 1,000 rallies. Ezra Levin - follow him to get updates @ezralevin.bsky.social - said 1,300 rallies with 10,000 *speakers*. So the USA Today numbers were really low (RSVP, but more attend).

This was all so unnecessary.

His doctors are not honest with him. This is not how science is done, but for loads of cash they let him believe what he wants... and then he tries to repackage that illusion and sell it to his minions. Awful, all around.

Weird choice - they are probably happiest amongst themselves, huddled up in DC, even with pesky reporter questions.
Because they are hiding from their constituents back home, even the oligarchs must be mad, and trips abroad are probably dicey.

Yesterday:
- Walmart sold out of its cheap AROMA 8-cup rice cooker
- Target increased the price of its Hamilton Beach 6 qt. slow cooker by $3
- Discount grocer Joe V's increased the price of 4 lb. bag dried pinto beans by .50
- GOP did nothing to help regular folks
