It's quite a story, isn't it? Some of the legends of the saints are pretty wacky - like St Ursula and the 10,000 virgins (or was it 11,000?)

For me the most extraordinary redemption is that of Alessandro Serenelli, the murderer of Maria Goretti.

Hello Rebecca, I would love to do this! Next week would be pretty impossible (and you've probably filled it by now) but yes please to a future gig, not least because I have a new novel out this month (my 9th)... You know me and know where to find me...

It's breathtaking, what is happening, isn't it? Religiously, I am a pretty lapsed Catholic, which is not so much to do with belief but a lot to do with the hypocrisies of organised religion. But Mariann Budde gives me hope. I loathe all that DT stands for.

It's batten, not button, because there is actually something called a batten. en.wiktionary.org/wiki/batten_... But yes, it's about protecting something from the elements.

Well done with your novel! Traditional publishing often depends on getting an agent as many publishers (but not all) will only look at submissions from an agent. You will need an appealing pitch letter, a coherent synopsis, but most of all your manuscript needs to be as polished as you can make it.

It is indeed! Don't know where I would be without them!

This one: Olomouc in the Czech Republic. Prague is rammed these days, but Olomouc is sort of a miniature version.

Thank you Gill! Waiting for my copies to come through Italian customs. It feels like a very happy unbirthday to me.
