Star birth in the extreme. Hubble's view of the Carina Nebula shows star birth in a new level of detail. NASA, ESA, N. Smith (University of California, Berkeley), and The Hubble Heritage Team (STScI/AURA) 🧪

Hey everyone! Thank you for the love and support for my solo show. Thank you especially to the amazing people at @nucleushouse.bsky.social for having me. It’s still so surreal to have had this opportunity 🌷 Works and prints are still available online nucleusportland.com/collections/...

Still slugging away on this snail painting 🐌🍀

rooting for these folks

last day at current job and it's hard. not a fan of this whole constantly having to break and make new relationships every few years thing. precarity sure does make community building hard

this is legit inspiring as an artsy weirdo feeling a little at a loss right now. time to be a surrealist menace gumming up the works

Galaxy:The Prettiest Star is such a good read!

Hey y'all, my sister and her fellow Alamo Drafthouse NYC workers went on strike yesterday to protest the recent laying off 70 their fellow employees. if you want a place where even a small donation can make a difference in the lives of working people consider donating to their GoFundMe which is

Not exaggerating when I say I would like a personal, handwritten apology from every pundit who barfed out a dozen "the left wants to change the way you talk!" op-eds based on non-mandatory guidelines in obscure PDFs.

Disability is not a personal or moral failing. Everyone is one accident, infection or stroke of bad luck from becoming disabled. When someone asks for help, give it freely and without strings. Don’t judge them or tell them to “try harder”. One day it’ll be your turn.

The horrors persist but so do-- wait, is that another horror? there are more horrors? Anyhow like i was saying, the horrors persist but HOLY SHIT MORE HORRORS? WTF MAN

"But how am I supposed to find time for my art when I'm working full time?" Time theft. You commit time theft. You're already getting screwed by your employers. They're not paying you enough for the time you give them. Do it on the clock. Even if it's just a few words on a scrap of paper.

Yes

I hear the Miniature Counterfeiters' Guild is accepting new applicants, if you're looking to make a little coin

Listen friends - gather your hope where you can. People showed up in all 50 states on a moments notice. Voicemail boxes of senators are filling up. Lawsuits are being filed. Look at all the good people. And do not forget to take care of yourselves. Seriously. This is a long haul.

Elon Musk is like the chosen one of South African apartheid he's like if South African apartheid desperately sought a human form in its weakened state in an attempt to regather its former strength

The GOP majority in the house is 3 seats. There are two special elections in Florida coming up and one in NY. With a few bucks to donate to those efforts, we can shave or even erase that majority. We don't have to wait two years.

Resistance starts with rhetoric. We can always pivot back to stronger language. Segregation Anti-integration Racial purges Ethnic cleansing I’ve always called corporate DEI stuff “racial integration programs”.

My latest. As journalists and writers, we have a duty to use language that is accurate and describes our current reality. I’m no longer going to talk about DEI/Anti-DEI. Let’s be clear. We are facing racial purges and re-segregation. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

How’s everyone doing today? Make sure you do at least one of these self-care things this week: • scream into a pillow • question the status quo • sign a petition for political change • vent with a friend • hold space for a venting friend • have a lil treat • spend time in nature • smoke some weed

This crisis has been overwhelming in so many ways, esp for our toddler. Our family is so grateful for the assistance. I try to keep my child and their life offline as much as I can, to protect their privacy and to keep them safe, but this emergency (and asking for help) requires full disclosure.

If you're feeling weird going to work today and having to conduct business as usual while a Nazi executes a coup on the federal government... ...it's not just you. This is an objectively weird situation and it would be weird *not* to feel weird about it all.

A thread for you. I doubt the folks who most need to read it ever will, but you should, if only to publicly embarrass them next Thanksgiving.

No one has to be sad about this you know, we can be PISSED. OFF.

They are going after a dog who educates children about the dangers of landmines.

mondays am I right

They say before you embark on revenge to dig two graves. That's in case you get Super Revenge, where you kill a guy and get his buddy too

Last year we started a project to download and preserve public data. lil.law.harvard.edu/blog/2025/01... Since saving public data is in the news today — but is always needed — let’s talk about what you can do to help.

If you're calling your Senators about confirmations, don't just ask them not to confirm RFK Jr. Also ask them not to confirm Russell Vought for head of the OMB. He's a Christian theocrat and architect of Project 2025, and in that position he would have immense power over Federal funding.

From a journalist friend: Just spreading the word. The CDC is purging data, so people should archive their favorite CDC datasets today, namely ones around race/ethnic diversity, LGBTQ, and reproductive health. Also health data involving climate. The youth risk behavior survey has already gone down.

Fuck it. Trans folks need MATERIAL SUPPORT. @distributeaid.org is launching an HRT Harm Reduction Toolkit that provides 1 year of medical supplies needed to take injection-based HRT. We were planning to go live in January, but I'm not waiting. Fund the kits here: distributeaid.org/hrt-harm-red...

I used to work for an elected official as the person who answered their emails. I can tell you from personal experience, if even twenty or thirty people all call an official in a day, they start panicking. This stuff does help.

What Donna didn't say is that because of our lost employment/insurance situation, not only can I no longer try to help her but she's been trying to help us. Having your insurance tied to employment remains a scam. Thanks everyone who has helped or who has shopped: thebrokencircle.etsy.com

“For those who didn’t grow up with authoritarian dynamics, here’s one piece of unsolicited advice from a transgender exvangelical: when communicating with authoritarians, never assume they mean the same thing you mean when they use the same words—and never take their rhetoric at face value”

we do not get out of this until we convince enough people that "we're better than this" is true even if you think we are very much not better than this, that's the only way to win

for everyone else: buy trans literature & art NOW while you can. there’s a non-zero chance that queer and *especially* trans voices wind up being temporarily silenced at some point over these next 4 years. support trans people *now* while we can still ask for help & make incredible art in public.
