Every subsystem (social, story, combat, etc) is a unique design problem if you want a system more complex than “roll dice, then the GM makes up a result”. I think many games attempt to solve one of those problems so that play focuses on that area. The other areas are neglected to pull focus away.

It means they are probably misrepresenting how much of the old material can be used in the new edition.

Hard agree. Also, rules for players should not be in GM books. They might as well not exist at that point because they all become optional.

At one point I went to eBay to assemble a full cube from the parts being sold online, and then a month later the Kickstarter for the reprint happened. Now, like a madman, I have two full cubes.

My personal rule is that players are bad at statistics. This means that a player can usually figure out and not be frustrated with something easy like a percentile roll, but a reroll or exploding die or multi-die roll is going to be tough on them.
