Today, I was incredibly privileged to both give a short speech & raise a toast to "The Boss" Sir Ernest Shackleton, as well as paying my respects to Frank Wild Shackleton is one of my heroes, I have his family motto as a tattoo & lecturing about him on this trip has been a wonderful opportunity

We got to Elephant Island. It took a lot of searching by the exped team to find a good landing site for the Zodiacs, and I'll be forever grateful that they did. Being able to set foot on Elephant Island makes over 20 years of historical obsession (and one Shackleton tattoo) all feel very real.

When I was asked to come and lecture onboard MV Ushuaia, I hoped we would spot Bark Europa amidst the ice, and finally we did. What an absolutely stunning sight. I'm so happy. My little twigs and rope filled heart is full ⚓️💙

I got this lil Salty sea dog the first time I visited HMS Victory as a child, 27 years ago. That trip got me interested in naval history & many years later naval history has brought me to Antarctica, so it seemed only fitting to bring him He's v well traveled & has also summited Kilimanjaro 😂
