If the violence really was all there is to it, as you claim, why did Johnson bother to go through so much (sent home, put on house arrest, lost his job+any future in the department) to blow the whistle on his superiors? It was a shit show. I'm not denying that. It was a terrible occurance. BUT the people calling the shots at the Capitol could have prevented a lot of it. Assets were denied. Deployment was stalled. Listen to what the Capitol police chief Steven Sund had to say about the chain of command that week.

Yep, I agree with him. Leadership totally failed. There was a lot of funny business going on that day. Dem big wigs wanted this scene to play out, they thought it would spell the end of Trump's political career. Assets were denied and information was hidden.
