🇺🇸🇷🇺 Plans are afoot for an American-owned company seized by the Kremlin and placed under state control to be used to supply food to the Russian army, a document seen by Reuters showed, potentially threatening Moscow's warming relations with the U.S.

After spending last three days in Wisconsin I’m more convinced than ever April 1 state Supreme Court election a referendum on whether Musk-Trump oligarchy will take over the states or if democracy still has a fighting chance. The stakes are that high www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

So, US health and science agencies are no longer able to study or take part in public health messaging? The right has used the so-called “censorship” narrative to censor any and all research seeking to understand and/or intervene in their bullshit machine.

"On October 8, 1931, a law went into effect requiring every Italian university professor to sign an oath pledging their loyalty to the government of Benito Mussolini. Out of over 1,200 professors in the country, only 12 refused. All of them were immediately fired." www.chronicle.com/article/what...

America has always been a bastion of freedom, holding the line against tyranny at home and abroad. No longer. Trump has placed us on the other side of that wall.

Unfortunately I won’t be to DC in time, but this rally for Ukraine is happening in Lincoln memorial. Attend if you can and Slava Ukrainii!

who knew alpha males were such whiny little bitches?

An underappreciated aspect of the Nazi rise is how quickly German *society* fell into line. In early March 1933, a majority of German voters voted against the Nazis. By late spring, pretty much the whole country backed them. How did that happen? Here's a little thread. (1/6)

Does anyone have a contact for Ann ? Would love to discuss with her the possibility of partnering with her to publish her cartoons exclusively on @bluesky

As @davidpepperoh.bsky.social has written, this also means that there are politicians who face no competition, feel no need to be interested in voters and can be as corrupt and/or extreme as they like

Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes resigned from the Washington Post after the paper killed her satirical cartoon depicting WaPo’s owner Jeff Bezos, as well as other media and tech giants, genuflecting to Donald Trump. Ann Telnaes’ integrity, journalistic standards, and…

Trump and his GOP enablers can try to retcon what happened on January 6th. But we all saw it with our own eyes. We saw Trump and R’s lie about the election being stolen. People believed them and attacked the Capitol to try and overturn an election. The truth is the truth. Liz, as usual, is right.

#Shero of the Week @anntelnaes.bsky.social for quitting WaPo & telling Jeff Bezos & her editor to SHOVE IT! She will NOT bend a knee She will not be censored Of course, Bezos could not be reached for comment as his head was too far up Trump's fat ass Please share & support her anntelnaes.com

My latest: "Drawing The Ire of Trump and the Broligarchy: A Cartoonist Resigns to Defend The Free Press" On @anntelnaes.bsky.social resigning from the Wash Post in the defense of a free press and upholding the art of mocking Trump and the broligarchy. thelefthook.substack.com/p/drawing-th...

“Trump has always been defined by his striking lack of curiosity about the government he sought to lead,” writes @qjurecic.bsky.social. The more Americans know about their system of government, “the better they will be equipped to defend their democracy”:

Thank goodness for people like former WAPO cartoonist @anntelnaes.bsky.social, American hero. This may only be the rough of the cartoon she planned to run before she was told she couldn't, but it speaks volumes, perhaps, especially in this form.

Good Morning SKIES of BLUE Happy Saturday One thing I learned from yesterday's 119th Congressional Vote and Swearing in... I Pledge to SUPPORT HOUSE DEMOCRATS, ESPECIALLY OUR WOMEN CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES THEY...ARE FIGHTING FOR YOU

This brilliant and on-point editorial cartoon was drawn by a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist for the Washington Post. It was rejected because Jeff Bezos is in it. Mainstream media has lost its integrity and independence and is failing us.

When your crisis PR team creates a new crisis for you… www.nytimes.com/2024/12/21/b...

The NYT article about Blake Lively’s lawsuit is incredible. Her director/costar’s PR team texting “Holy shit, I can’t believe how well our evil plan to destroy this woman’s reputation is working! Thank god no one will ever read these text messages!” back and forth to each other over and over

Stephen Hawkins and Daniel Yudkin conducted a large survey after the 2024 election. “Americans overwhelmingly—but, it turns out, mistakenly—believe that Democrats care more about advancing progressive social issues than widely shared economic ones,” they write.

The Trump ordeal has made one thing clear. Too many of our checks and balances rely on norms, traditions and the honor code. It works when those elected into power are people of honor and integrity who respect our norms and traditions. Elect a lifelong criminal and it all goes sideways.

A short, compelling read... medium.com/@LeslieMac/i...

When only one party deals in facts, facts start to sound political.

Good morning, Blue Sky. Being resilient is easier when you're surrounded by the right people. Build communities that make you smarter and tougher for the battles ahead. Never give up hope. Never stop fighting for what is right. And just. Whatever comes our way, we will face it together.

If you honestly believe that the Supreme Court would have let a trump trial happen before the election regardless of when he was indicted or by whom, you have way more faith in the Supreme Court than I do.

Anyone, any entity, anywhere in the world can just pay him any amount (for anything he promises in return), and there's no disclosure of the payments, no oversight of any of it by anyone, and of course no potential bribery prosecution (of him) because... immune. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/24/u...

Hope this artist moved to Blu Sky.

Lucy Lawless' doc has made it onto the Oscar-qualifying docs list! She's very stoked about it. 🙂 www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...
