This is now the most embarrassing thing JD has done on a couch

This is on #Trump #Musk #Vought #Rubio.

If your life depends on anyone in the GOP acting courageously and speaking out against any of this, start making out your will.

Today is a really good day to do something. Read the Constitution. Have a talk with a stranger about DOGE. Volunteer at a food bank. Be kind to people. Whatever you do, don’t just throw your hands up in the air & assume Trump gets away with it all. We are still a rule of law country. Insist on it.

I just loved watching this guy act. Every movie I ever saw him in, Gene Hackman could steal a movie with a single scene (Young Frankenstein) or hold you rapt by himself start to finish (The Conversation). A true gem

it’s so stupid that rich people give wine a bad image. there’s such good wine that isn’t too expensive and tastes like sunshine and walking in the grass in your barefeet

Anyone saying the Democrats got their wallets inspected on the vote is, frankly, being either stupid or a wrecker, or both. The GOP flipped their own people. The Dems got their own reps back into the chamber, at least one limping out of a hospital bed, another with her newborn, and they were united.

DOGE's new AI, built to scan federal workers' emails to see if they get to keep their jobs, is the latest in a number of AI schemes from Musk. We might scoff at how dumb these ideas are, but the truth is, they're not even supposed to work. They're built to eliminate accountability.

if nothing else I hope this era finally makes clear that government is a SERVICE, not a business. everything isn't designed to make money.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

ballsack sports broke character

For most folks, democracy is local. So get out and run for office. The people are demanding change. Don’t just wonder when that change will happen. Be that change.

Jeffries: hey the GOP controls the government, absolutely nothing i can do, gonna work on my personal book tour Sanders: brb i am going to personally barnstorm strategic GOP house districts and try to peel off 2 votes so we can block Trump's cuts to Medicaid www.commondreams.org/news/bernie-...

This is quite significant in many ways: the overt thuggery, Trump’s barely suppressed fury at being contradicted by a woman, the governor’s standing up, the total abandonment of the pretense of federalism, the continuing use of trans Americans the way Hitler used Jews.

They are telling us, out loud, exactly how the 2026/28 elections will not be free & fair. They will go after vote by mail (bsky.app/profile/mira...). They will go after computer voting. They will then say we can't count all the paper ballots because it's taking too long & there must be fraud. Etc.

BREAKING: The Associated Press sues three Trump administration officials over access to presidential events, citing the First Amendment.

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

New in PN: AOC shows how to fight back and stand strong "Prominent figures standing up can undermine the climate of fear that MAGA relies on to impose terror. AOC’s work on behalf of her constituents and refusal to be intimidated are models of resistance other Democrats would do well to imitate."

Really good piece. Other Democrats in power need to look at what AOC is doing right now and follow her example. One of the worst and most frightening aspects of this moment is seeing how many Dems in leadership roles seem resigned to defeat.

“I knew someone on AA5432.” That was the subject of an email NPR host Adrian Ma sent to newsroom leaders in the hours after the DC plane crash. He trusted us with sharing his story — and her contagious energy. www.npr.org/2025/02/20/g...

taking black kids away from their parents and putting them on farms seems really familiar to me! what could it be?

This country has seen some bad moments in the 61 years, 5 months, 16 days I’ve been on this Earth. But it has never, ever before come close to the supertoxic level of stupidity, mendacity, narcissism, nihilism, and moral apathy that threaten to destroy it today.

An excellent question. Where are the Fortune 500 & Wall Street CEOs? Where are the university presidents? Where are the civil society leaders? Not just speaking out specifically in defense of their institutions & democracy, but also about 🇺🇸's global interests? The silence is deafening & shameful.

It’s quite clear by now that the answer to “why is the Trump administration doing x terrible thing?” is that they are *trying* to dismantle America and destabilize the entire world.

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

I really wish all these people who want to be ruled by a king would just fuck off to a country that has one. Thailand’s pretty and has amazing food. They’ve even got lèse-majesté laws to stop people from upsetting your bootlicking souls.

One thing Democratic leadership could do right now is to name an alternate HHS secretary--someone to provide ongoing public updates and health information. And do it for other departments too. Start showing voters what a Democratic government would look like--press conferences, speeches, all of it.

looking forward to the many press conferences during the next pandemic where we’ll be forced to listen to someone who sounds like pennies in a garbage disposal and looks like fried chicken skin telling us how to stay healthy

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear is joining this lawsuit. Story to come.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: an administration (and its supporters) who believe that they are not limited by the rule of law have no moral or philosophical claim to the protection of the rule of law. “The law is whatever we say it is” warrants the same in response.

apparently people need to hear this but center right financial consultant eugene ludwig is not your friend

Donald Trump did this. This is a direct result of his actions:

This is a flat-out, clear-cut violation of the First Amendment.

Anyone asking if Trump would actually defy a court order needs their fucking head examined. I mean we’re talking about someone who tried to overthrow an American election. Wake the fuck up. Of course he’ll defy the Constitution. Apologies for my language. I don’t feel well.

The Constitution. The judicial branch. Separation of powers. Checks and balances. A nation of laws. The President of this country is not a king. Please repeat.

lol “What leverage do we have?” Mitch McConnell famously said in 2009 as he sat on his hands and sulked

Correct. They are refusing to enforce duly enacted laws. And then they will refuse to comply with duly entered court orders.

This is it. This is the take.
