Their reflection on the "signal" that StackOverflow gives living in an AI world is interesting - looking forward to see how this evolve throughout 2025. The ranking themselves seem pretty aligned with my general perception (javascript and python on top, rust still nieche)

(which, btw, very interesting issue XD the AI thinking that all the code comments are truthful)

...while Gemini choked hard and believed some comments that were in that file saying some "false" stuff (they were notes from me when trying to figure out what was right and wrong about some configs) and basically said "hey heres this comment that says why the code doesn't work"

I guess it's one of the tradeoffs given the architectural choices

yeah just go for it! I actually even uninstalled a bunch of apps entirely to prevent my muscle memory to just go into them

as someone who has done that - 11/10 would do again

And ofc even if you are not in such a position, but working in this space, it's a very good post! not only that, but a ton of great suggestions about how to evolve things for the greater good (ℒ️) of the community πŸ‘ ...did I already say it's good? πŸ”—πŸ‘‡ blog.isquaredsoftware.com/2025/06/rea...

(and the PR is against the vite branch where everything works as expected, for good measure πŸ˜…)

your wish is my command ;) find the test code where I've been attempting to get it to work here: github.com/kelset/graph... you can checkout the branch, npm install, npm run dev and then in the consolelog when pressing the fetchpokemon it will fail because for some reason Cache is not available

I only have a free user account but it seems already quite good?? Yes, it's kind of annoying that there's no Android section but I think it's still valuable here's the link if you wanna check it out for yourself: mobbin.com

I think at this point all Buffer instances in Node are just Uint8Arrays, so I don't think it's like sometimes you get one slice() behavior and other times you get the other, but WOW was that a brutal breaking change I should probably make a PR to get us off of slice()

(and ofc I'm not the first and only one talking about it - many more important and experience OSS devs have been talking about it for the past few months!)

So in a way, yes, OSS maintainers will thrive because of their unique skillset - but they will also be on the receiving hand of an everly increasing volume of noise I fear πŸ˜…

And the timing is perfect too: just last week I got hit with my first instance of AI slob PRs on one of the projects I'm still owner of! A triple whammy of PRs of absolutely verbose and pointless code-nothing-ness 🫠 Anyway, here's the link πŸ”— mikemcquaid.com/why-open-so...

As somebody who was there: yes, this and the customers of Gatsby Cloud. Very much not the framework.

It talks about #generalizedAnxietyDisorder in a very balanced way, and I am really looking forward to future episodes - we really need more of this type of content. (and yes, she's in Mythic Quest) (she wrote this!) (and again - dont watch this with kids around)

I've also put up an extensive blog post that goes into more detail on the same topics, including the history and influences of React's development, and discussions of the pain points and concerns I see in the community: blog.isquaredsoftware.com/2025/06/reac...
