While it might not be the most "well known" (at least in the Javascript space), the RedMonk Programming Language Rankings is always an interesting opinionated chart to keep eyes on, when looking at the broad tech space. They just released their Jan'25 rank (yes, in June) πŸ‘‡

it's that time of the year again - happy steam summer sales everyone πŸ’Έ

I've been hearing good things about Cursor, a lot of people I follow using it... was about to at least install it and give a try to the free tier, but then I noticed that now the VSCode Copilot extension has: (1) agent mode (2) Claude 4 ...so it feels it might enough? thoughts?

oh wow didnt notice react-native has smashed through the 3M weekly downloads lately

well - anyone else want to try a month of The Pragmatic Engineer? πŸ“©

just wanna give a (1) ⭐️ to OpenAI's o4-mini-high model over Gemini 2.5 Pro 'cause when I gave both two webpack-bundled webworkers' *.js file and asked them to diff them to tell me why one was working and the other one didn't, o4 actually pointed me to the right issue...

A friend is building an app to help immigrants detained by ICE. They're a web app dev & need help with the mobile app. Anyone have experience building/deploying mobile apps and interested in volunteering time to help a new app with a good cause? Feel free to share with others or boost for reach.

great scott people please shut down your work phone and laptop outside of your working hour 😰 it's not worth it

pls expand the rollout πŸ₯²

I'm a big fan of investigations and super curious to learn about what the Flutter team will share about their findings - owning a dev platform, especially cross-platform, brings a ton of challenges so I'm sure it will be super interesting πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™€οΈ

If you are in a technical leadership position and #reactjs is part of the technologies you need to have a good grasp on, β€ͺ@acemarke.dev‬ last week released a lengthy blogpost which is an ABSOLUTE must read. Level headed, detailed, and coming from one of the OG 🐐 of this ecosystem

I'm really enjoying being at the United Nations Open Source Week event! Here's a short post with a few highlights from the OSPOs for Good Day yesterday. #UNOpenSourceWeek fastwonderblog.com/2025/06/19/u...

"Hope this email finds you well" How the email found me: (london bridge edition)

allright im so close to giving up on this but I'll try; any of you fellas got #webpack5 to play nice with #webworker(s)? I am genuinely feeling I'm losing my mind trying to get it to work properly. Like: exact same code, in a Vite set up it works flawlessly, in Webpack βŒπŸ’€

I don't know how Mobbin's webapp has never been on my radar as a #mobile developer, but W-O-W Having access to actual user flows!? This is such a great resource - immediate bookmark (yes, as many of you I've heard of it for the first time through one of fireship's latest vids)

sucks super hard but i won't be able to make it in the end 🫠 it sounded super cool tbh

The trend is still in Bluesky's favour. X is still larger but very regularly Bluesky easily eclipses it in terms of research being shared. Linda Yaccarino claimed X had 600m users in April. Bluesky has 36m accounts created in total.

As per usual, β€ͺ@mikemcquaid.com‬'s latest post resonate with me a lot: it really feels like having being an #OSS maintainer for so long allowed me to skill up my ability to review code quickly - and that's a very good advantage in an LLM world (rly rec reading it all, ton of insights)

sometimes I wonder if there's a world where webpack is not the bane of the dev existence 🫠🫠🫠

Last week, OpenSSF hosted a #TechTalk all about the EU #CRA β€” and the conversations and engagement were incredible! πŸ™Œ Huge thanks to everyone who joined us live! πŸ’™ If you missed it (or want to relive the highlights), the recording and slides are now available.

Probably the most useful bit of GitHub Copilot? πŸ˜‚ jokes aside, it doesn't do a terrible job! I think it creates a pretty decent starting point to build on top of - but I haven't seen it in action if the repo has a PR template... I hope it respects it!

If Inside Out 2 nailed #Anxiety for you, oh do I have good news: there's a new #mentalhealth show on yt and ep1 is all about it It may look like a kid's show with its puppets and all, but trust me, it's far from that. Very much worth a watchπŸ‘‡ www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5S...

can't help but feel a bit sad that the 1000000000th repo on GH is not an actual codebase 🫠 something something 15 minutes of fame I guess something something (link: github.com/AasishPokhr...)
