This is one of the best takes on the Firefox privacy changes I've read. I think they miss a crucial point, the executives and PR teams at Mozilla don't understand open source or open communities any more. The primary focus is on how to generate equal or more revenue from a smaller user base.

Check out the No Way Out podcast interview with Mark Graham, director of Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. It’s a must-listen for anyone eager to understand how web archiving works & why it matters. 🎧 ➡️ open.spotify.com/episode/4zP5... #digitalpreservation #archives @mark.bsky.social

Most people probably aren’t tracking this but Senate Republicans just started an all-night voting marathon that will allow them to gut Medicaid and increase child hunger while giving handouts to billionaires like Elon Musk.

#ObjectSpotlight on this circa 1915 #NYTMCollection cast-iron lamp designed by Squire J. Vickers, a chief architect of the #NYCSubway system. Lamps like these were placed at the entrance to stations on the New York Municipal Railway, a subsidiary of the BRT.

I’m watching this attack on diversity and, maaaan, I have some thoughts about how people behaved when things were in PLACE. How they acted like there would be no backlash. How they acted like it was forever. How they didn’t prepare. I’ve been predicting this (ask my daughter).

At the Zenith Energy work session at city council. I'll be putting thoughts in this thread throughout the day. First thing to say is that President Trump issued an unhinged energy order that colors this meeting. Also, Zenith & city staff presentations up on the website (plus video embedded).

Dump: ✨ My first few NYC subway station maps! ✨ The main ingredient is the 3D scanning of the station using rtabmap with iPhone Pro's LiDAR. After puzzling together all these partial scans, I create a fresh 3D model in Blender using the scan as reference. Choose a nice perspective & render: tadah!

@trimet.org Had a trip to Hillsdale for the first time recently. I am a big fan of the bus lanes on Capital Hwy. It was early rush hour and the bus was making good time vs other transportation. More of this please!

Hello BlueSky 👋 This is the official TriMet account 💙

Sometimes bike racks which seem like they should be better have different problems, like this bike rack at the Cambridgeside Galleria that I was about to lock to. I noticed it moving a little bit, so I wiggled it... and then realized it trivially lifted right up. I did not lock to it.

Re: the DOJ’s proposed remedies for Google’s search monopoly, @bkardell.com and I did a podcast episode about that a couple of months back. TL;DL: enacting all the proposed remedies would likely disembowel the entire browser market. www.igalia.com/chats/adpoca...

In US cities, ~2/3 of crash deaths occur on streets owned by the state – not local gov. Outdated, deadly state roads are preventing cities from building the safe, comfortable, and transit-friendly streets that residents want. My deep dive, in @vox.com 🧵 www.vox.com/future-perfe...

This 100% so many times in early Firefox Android history. Why is pageload so slow on this old phone. Profiler says the damn loading animation.

Here's my statement on today's non-apology from @LordPeterHendy: https://buff.ly/3UBlHZt Hendy is only apologising for the tone of his letter - nothing on his subsequent threats by email…

A tweet from Road Policing Scotland, with photo attached. See alt text for text. CONTEXT for non-Brits: it's illegal to ride e-scooters on public roads and pavements in the UK. (Regulations lag tech, and any vehicle class not explicitly legal is illegal on the roads by default.)

For the love of the gods and all that is holy, PLEASE use ALT text on your images if you're able. The level of inaccessibility is overwhelming.

"New" revelations indicate a huge percentage of Border Patrol surveillance towers are broken. But there's actually nothing new about it. Surveillance at the U.S.-Mexico border has been a boondoggle for decades.
