The weirdest guys have all the power right now.

“The Constitution has failed, and we no longer know which institution will rescue it.” washingtonmonthly.com/2025/06/27/i...

yeah man, institutionalized racism is when you try to recruit poor kids and black kids to get an education. great work. you are definitely not a dipshit who gets on the internet to say nonsense to make up for the fact that you have nothing but your own resentments to get you through the day

It's a good day to remember that American Samoans are US "nationals," not citizens, by birth, and SCOTUS declined to hear their case a few years ago Felt like a warning for birthright citizenship as a concept and here we are www.civilbeat.org/2022/10/us-s...

there is no jurisprudence at work here. the republican court believes that anything a republican president is presumptively constitutional, even if it directly violates the unambiguous constitutional text and causes total chaos in law and policy.

this is just an observation but one way to think of the civil war is that it WAS about states rights, but the right in question was the right of free states to stay free

Do not be fooled by people saying that this was merely a case about lower court injunctions. This is a coup happening right before your eyes. www.thenation.com/article/soci...

I know I’ve said this several dozen times, but right wing lunatics frankensteined together unrelated Bible verses to create “the antichrist” and a description of what he would look like, and then the guy fucking showed up and they love him.

I invite anyone who says, “but they’re just stopping nationwide injunctions” to shut the hell up. SCOTUS said today that rights clearly spelled out in the constitution can be removed in at least some parts of the country until SCOTUS says otherwise

it is the Imperial Judiciary when courts say that presidents can’t unilaterally overturn constitutional text, and the Proper Order of Things when courts say that your rights rest on the whims of who happens to be in office

I'm just more surprised more people aren't talking about Wilhoits Law, which is obviously what they are trying, and succeeding, in implementing as *actual law*. Wilhoit has been the model all along and it's working!

Hey Trump voters - is this what you wanted?

Monstrous: "They were crying in fear. One of the agents at one point lifted up his shirt, which displayed the gun that he was carrying....The 6-year-old boy was terrified to see the gun. He urinated on himself and wet all his clothing. No one offered him a change of clothing for many hours."

My religious belief is that living in a society is good, and that involves grappling with ideas that you may not agree with.

i don’t practice trans sharia i aint got no crystal ball

this court says that allowing EPA to regulate carbon emissions is a "major question" that demands congressional debate. but allowing the president to, with a flick of the wrist, end a straightforward constitutional right is something that must be allowed to stand?

Kinda fucked up that letting unelectable partisan hacks have lifetime appointments and brazenly take bribes from billionaire perverts isn’t working out better

Funny how the US has basically the government of Iran now: Supreme Leader who rules by decree, priestly council with token opposition that decides whether the decisions are okay or not on arcane scriptural grounds, and completely ceremonial legislature

what is even the point of lower courts if they are unable to block obviously unconstitutional behavior?

When you’ve lost the U.S. Catholic Bishops….

(leftistly) taxation is theft

Funny how “Free speech” advocates in Indiana always seem to forget that the state had snipers pointing guns at Pro-Palestinian protesters and then arrested everyone who was in the designated free speech zone. www.indystar.com/story/news/e...

The CRT panic in schools was one of the first MAGA conspiracies to leap to policy via the wave of state education gag orders. Now we have "foreign invader" conspiracy as federal immigration policy, the plandemic conspiracy as public health policy, eco-conspiracies as environmental policy, & more.

One thing I really think needs to be hammered into “libertarians” & other right wing freaks is the cost of helping other people is almost always less than the cost of not helping them. Because we live in a society & we are all connected & you are SO MUCH CLOSER to being sick and poor than you think!

A certain type of guy is so allergic to coalition-building or taking a W that if anyone he deems uncool embraces his preferred candidate, it’s proof of something nefarious or insincere.

Bit rich complaining about New York being taken over by immigrants when there's a big fucking statue in the harbour that invites everyone to come live there.

Are they actually killing rich people though?

Tapping the sign again. The sign says 'min-maxing education for optimal efficiency is part of a fascist agenda that dehumanizes learners.'

I guess you could say the people who thought Andrew Cuomo ran a better campaign than Zohran Mamdani were sequestered in echo chambers and out of touch with what people offline wanted out of a candidate

When all the evidence points to you being wrong, you can just wish it’s true. Pretty typical move for the American right tbh

I put together a 4-page doc for those wary of the rush to integrate in K-12 schools (though much applies beyond). Four of the main arguments for teachers using AI tools & introducing kids to AI as early as kindergarten are addressed with rebuttals linked to sources.
