Yeah, no need to worry about the man who has been slowly making gains for over a decade and is influencing Labour policy more than any Labour voter.

This is such an INCREDIBLY thoughtful and comprehensive outline of comics, the funding of comics, and how to improve that. Amazing work CCIC, we’re so lucky to have you fighting for our industry 💪

Booked tickets to see Thunderbolts at the Odeon with subtitles. Only two showings listed. A Sunday morning that my wife is at work for and 9:30 on a Monday evening in the deluxe screen. Cinemas really need to step up their game when it comes to subtitles showings. Ideally, it should be the default.

This book isn’t theory. It’s 15+ years of actual, sleeves-rolled-up, “I’ve made all the mistakes so you don’t have to” advice. If you're ready to make comics, it’s here, t.co/AVhxSB1A4Q

DC's Finest books really living up to the name.

Be amazing if £1.5m could be invested in the UK comics scene, wouldn’t it? Someone’d need to build a fully-costed, well-reasoned argument to DCMS for such a thing first, I guess… WELL, NOW. Come see what your friends at CCIC have done! www.thecomicsculturalimpactcollective.org/CCIC%20DCMS%...

Never meet your heroes

When I jump from working on the Beano to other comics I really miss being able to just write what is going on in the panel as an SFX.

Fun fact: St. George never went to England. IIRC, by Ronald Hutton's account it's believed he had a very old cult in coastal Palestine that eventually got transmogrified into a saint and then imported to England during the Crusades.

Sometimes when you are working on a comic the artist is able to express something that you couldn’t say in words. I love how Wayne has drawn this kid kicking the heads off flowers. It says a lot about the vicious cruelty of the current moment

This is it, exactly. Any thinking person has to reject this and insist that they are the primary authors of their own life. UK law is obsessed with categorisation, a holdover of Empire where people had to be divided into ruled and rulers. Insistence on personal identity terrifies this order.

uh oh what’s the fifth panel gonna be

Do please check this out and, when you inevitably find the brilliantly-constructed document persuasive - lend your name to the movement. I have. I would like you to.

Fellow Margatians and all-round brilliant humans, the curators of the Crab Museum (which isn't *really* about crabs, sorta kinda, it's complicated but brilliant, google it) get it right every time. This, on the recent trans rights ruling, is a delight.

Sad news. Word is flying around comicdom that comics creator Mark Zingarelli died. Mark first emerged in the 1980s in the Seattle scene. He drew for Weirdo magazine & Pekar's American Splendor. He was an early standout in the indie comics movement. This is a loss. Great guy & a wonderful talent.

In the Beano this week Bananaman’s enemy General Blight becomes the head of DOPE - the Department of Pure Evil.

LOVED this.

Jeez, you people are tiresome.

I'm very interested in an informed take.

‼️🚨‼️ The deadline for anyone wanting to support this important initiative - investment in independent comics creators in the UK as a solid business and cultural endeavour - is TOMORROW, 23rd April. I’m proud to be a co-sign on this worthy proposal, join the movement today!

Thing is though, it hasn't at all. It's given rise to more questions than it solves.

We all knew it was going in that direction, but the speed from zero to perv is exceptional.

“Am I dead?” DOES A BEAR SHIT IN THE WOODS? “Hah. I prefer is the Pope Catholic?” WAS. WAS CATHOLIC.

I know it’s whimsical but if humanity could just agree on what unites us instead of getting dragged into these endless billionaire-fed culture war bullshits, we could improve everyone’s lives so much faster.

Going through the loft and I found our old wedding invitations which we did as a full comic book with a cover by @andrewjames.bsky.social. What a lovely and talented man he is!

CM Punk. CM Punk. CM Punk.

Any interest in me posting tips on being a teacher author? I’m knee deep in book #2… youtu.be/FSOkFh8F18I?...

They always bury this bit.

Alternatively: "The biggest movies in the world are made using UK facilities and production talent thanks to tax incentives".

It sucks that the media ecosystem has become so poisoned that even a nominal broadsheet is churning out dross like this knowing it’ll make people angry and hoping they won’t think about it beyond a click.

YEET YEET YEET

Just watching Wrestlemania, YEETing on the couch.
