In this case it was to make way for fancy hotels. People were understandably angry. That was a local landmark.

The Freddy was a robot this local guy made. My mom worked for the paper and interviewed him and she brought me because I was obsessed with movie monsters.

The flat iron? That was in the downtown area of Asheville, NC (I think it got demolished sadly) on a street corner. Somewhere I have a picture after I walked around it and discovered street musicians set-up playing. You can just barely make out a guitar in the corner.
