YES, and the Iranians (and much of the world) will not see them as terrorist attacks but rather justifiable counter-attacks. The US committed an act of war against Iran without warning or a formal declaration of war. In other words, the US just "Pearl Harboured" another nation. How did that end?

I fear it won't just be US troops in the region. The US just attacked a sovereign nation without warning or a formal declaration of war. The US just did to Iran what Japan did at Pearl Harbour. It only stands to reason that Iran will view the citizenry of the US as a legitimate target.

The US just committed an act of war against a sovereign nation. I expect a retaliatory strike inside the US, likely using unconventional means. The pundits will scream "TERRORISM", but the unfortunate truth is the US citizenry just became a legitimate target in Iran's (and others') eyes.

Trump just kicked over an asymmetric warfare anthill. Iran is not a collection of oasis in the desert, but a rather large nation with all the resources, capabilities, and geopolitical impact that entails.

I followed the directions above (peeling them was the worst part) and used a combination of olive oil and some beef tallow (rendered from a previous adventure with some generous local butchers) to achieve tuber greatness! Seriously - these are better than fries and you don't need a fryer!

Started with slightly old small potatoes from my farmers box. (that's a lie - these things were literally 3 weeks past their prime - I wasn't just picking off eyes, I was picking off root colonies and possibly the beginning of a potato based civilization)

Is it just me, or is the US disproportionately large in his silly poster? Its like he needs to lie about the size of that as well.

If Canada has to lose to someone, I would pick the Danes.

Their faithful will succumb easily, bleating all the while that they "owned the Libs" and incorrectly thinking they are better off then they were under the "woke yoke". The educated will stay silent thinking "this can't be happening - it'll get better, reason will prevail." It won't.

It makes sense to them. This is akin to the intelligentsia purges under Lenin and Stalin - eliminate the intellectuals and educated so that the rest become your willing serfs. The Republicans don't want a republic, they want a feudal state, with themselves as the ruling class.

I've watched this sooo many times. There's a reason why this is considered the best live set in the history of rock and roll.

Flip one more and Elizabeth May becomes the balance of power in the HoC - how interesting would that be? Every vote DOES count whomever you choose. So proud of our system but wishing for a better metric than FPTP.

I remember getting a box of Coconut Fingers one grade-school Christmas exchange and I thought it was the best gift EVER! In hindsight I realize it might have been because I had a crush in the gift giver but damn those were good...

Not a CANDU. My understanding is that in the 50s Canada worked with India to create CIRUS, a variant of the NRX research reactor. India was able to use CIRUS to create plutonium for the 1974 Smiling Buddha atomic test. That said, "cause of some tension" understatement made me snort out loud.

I worked at the Citadel so I can say its actually a very clever name. It's named for a gun gin- a tripod and winch used for hoisting artillery. There is one at Citadel (in the South Parade square) which has been used to hoist the cannon used for the noon gun.

One more note: the decision on who should take Berlin was political. The Western Allies were actually in a better position to take it, but in accordance with the Yalta Agreement (1945), the Western Allies stopped so the Soviets could have the honour.

So to say "this country won WW2" or "no, THIS country won WW2" is utterly asinine. The Second World War was won by people - people who were willing to put aside their own safety and comfort to stand up to fascism, and their governments who did extraordinary things to stop an inherent evil.

2) The western aid (including the US stuff) gifted to the USSR travelled in merchant marine ships from many occupied nations including Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and France. These convoys were protected during the dreaded "Murmansk Run" by ships of the Royal Navy and Royal Canadian Navy.

1) without the crucial aid from the Western Allies (US but also Canada and the UK) the USSR may not have survived that crucial first year. Most important were the logistical elements - trucks and locomotives - so they could bring their reserves from the far east (see Battle of Moscow, 1941).

Canadian here. As an historian you learn to look for the nuances of every situation. In this case, yes - the USSR took the brunt of the Wehrmacht attacks and eventually beat the Germans back to Berlin. However, like in every true story, there's more to it...

Carney came out of that meeting with a new knowledge of exactly who he was dealing with. He had a good idea, but you never know until you sit down with them. He will now negotiate from a position of strength. Trump came out of that meeting hoping no one noticed he needed to change his Depends.

Canada - the CANDU reactor is actually the model for many nations' civil nuclear power usage. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CANDU_r... Shout out to all the amazing work Chalk River has done.

As a former Parks Canada employee I can verify that there are very few stunningly handsome Latino men working at Green Gables NHS as reenactors. Not really a great deal of demand for that role during the time period in question.

We showcase this photo at the new exhibit at the Halifax Citadel. This is actually the first time women voted in a federal election in Canada! The franchise was only given to nursing sisters serving overseas. Notice how put out the sergeant in the middle is...

I didn't realize PP actually criticized him for not wearing a Canadian flag pin, because I try to ignore everything that vomits out of his little ferret mouth. He likely didn't recognize it: he doesn't have one, none of his friends do, and they don't hand those out for honking horns on city streets.
comment in response to post
I think he forgot our (Canada) election day is coming up. He managed to stay quiet about the "51st state" thing for a while for PP's benefit He must have forgotten that by now or been distracted by a shiny object somewhere in his peripheral vision.

Canadian Here: I have extended family in CO. I refused to go visit them despite how much we love each other. They compromised and we're meeting in Ontario later this summer. They spend their dollars here, so do we.

The net result was a loss if crucial corporate knowledge within the civil service and a huge uptick in government spending to corporations. Conservatives caused it.
