Recent polling shows that the lead the CPC had is shrinking significantly (from double to single digits in a couple of key polls). The threat from the US and the now confirmed tariffs, as well as the Liberal leadership race, seem to have shifted the narrative and given voters a new option.

All of this. I've been saying this to colleagues who all believe that a CPC majority is the thing. I said they'd be lucky if they could get a minority now. I actually cause people to gasp when I say the Liberals can still win the next election. We're in for some interesting times ahead...

This is the sense I've been getting, too. I think voters have been screaming from the rooftops that all options aren't good, and so the Liberals opened the door to changing that narrative (for themselves and the next election). If it's a 7 point difference, that makes the next election interesting.
