Whoa! That conjures a flashback to National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

Seriously though, great photo!

Nice! That’s been my “special occasion” shampoo (and conditioner) for the last 25+ yrs. It’s expensive but i only go through a couple bottles a year. It’s my absolute favourite! 🍌 🤗

It is! It makes me happy just knowing they live their lives here, traveling, hunting, raising their family. I’ve never seen pups, but there are 2 younger looking ones that seem to travel together. I’m assuming part of the extended family.

I especially love when it then locks me out, telling me that was my last free article. 🤦🏼♀️

Here’s a still taken from the last cam capture. She looks pretty scrappy. Several nights in a row she sat there just looking around and sniffing the air. I can’t help feeling sad for her. 😢
(Ignore the cam date. Batteries died and I forgot to reset it. 🤦🏼♀️)

It’s a little tricky in that some feeds, like Birds, require you to “join” to be able to post to the feed (you can still view it without joining). Then just add 🪶 to your relevant posts for them to appear there.
@daryllmarie.bsky.social can you plz add Tom to birds? Thx!

The “Native Plants, Healthy Planet” podcast did a really interesting episode on the American Chestnut Restoration project. I found it to be a good explainer. It’s their May 5, 2023 episode.

They really are! I have hours of cam video of my pond pair working side-by-side to cut down trees, haul branches, and patch up the pond’s leaky edges. It’s never ending. Since the (presumed) male’s death last mo, I’m not sure how the remaining beav is going to get it all done.

My mistake was venturing off trail through an overgrown field this afternoon. Wasn’t even thinking about ticks. I’m in southern Ontario. We’ve had a couple of light frosts, but overall it’s been a really mild fall. Ugh.

We had a huge frog crop this summer. I’m sure it feasted until they all hunkered down for winter. Maybe it’s coming back in hopes of finding more. 🤷🏼♀️

I should clarify, the lake is 1/2 km away. But the otters seldom come down to this end. I usually only see them with binocs or when we’re out in the canoe.
