Joyce Marcus and Kent Flannery, The Creation of Inequality. Concluded it started with gender discrimination and the creation of men's houses.

So, we are close to ending inequality. That means we are close to ending the prestige and status of the rich. Perhaps a wealthy author is painfully aware of this.

Marcus and Flannery are two Anthropologists who wrote The Creation of Inequality, a cross cultural examination of societies over the last 5,000 years. They concluded it started with gender discrimination.

Yes, when I said Biblical Hebrew I meant the block script. And when I mentioned the Samaritan Pentateuch, I should have added they wrote it using the Paleo-Hebrew script to make it appear more authentic. Of course, outside of Hebrew contexts the same script is called Phoenician.
comment in response to post
Biblical Hebrew appears no earlier than the Persian period. The source documents, which were translated/transliterated into Biblical Hebrew, could be older.

Given that the reason to observe the Sabbath in Deuteronomy was because God brought Israel out of Egypt, and that an ivory plaque showing a king on a cherubim throne was in Egyptian style, the Exodus was political, not physical. Jeroboam called Rehoboam an Egyptian taskmaster.

The Torah was written in Biblical Hebrew to justify property claims of the returning Babylonian captives, as against the inhabitants whose claims were 'from Abraham'. The Samaritan Pentateuch was a response to this.

Of course, I also enjoy programming, so that puts me in a small group of people.

I had a job that I enjoyed. I was 'level 3' tech support, meaning that when a customer had a problem with the software product that tech support couldn't fix, it was my job to find the cause and fix it. Once it was fixed, I never saw it again. So always something new.

When a king gives you a gift, and you can't give the king a greater gift in return, you become the king's vassel.

The AfD is a front for billionaires, who want to return to the 19th Century. That requires shutting down the social aspects of government. It is also the reason why the Trump administration supports the AfD, because the Trump administration caters to billionaires.

The rabbi said he threw the offerings up so that God could take what he wanted.
comment in response to post
A priest, a pastor and a rabbi were discussing how they handled offerings. The priest said he drew a line and dropped the offerings directly over it. What fell to the right was God's, to the left was the priest's. The pastor drew a circle; inside was God's, outside the pastor's.

In this way, the institutions become part of the culture; supporting those institutions will be called conservatism, even though they will be more egalitarian than what we have had up to now.

So, we now have an opportunity to create a more anti-fragile system. The problem with a hierarchy is that it can be decapitated. With the destruction of the federal institutions, we can create distributed institutions that better meet our needs.

Nobody works that hard. They take it from the millions that do work hard. Money is power. Power needs to be responsible. Regulation defines responsibility. When the marginal tax rate was 90%, people used to say, "Taxes are the price you pay for not investing in America."

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Wall Street Journal wrote an article with the title "We are all Marxists". Which is not so surprising when you realize that Marx is best known for his description of capitalism.

The elites in the US have always been morally compromised.
comment in response to post
When the US wrote the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union, they purposely did not create a government system. That's why they had to write the Constitution a few years later, "in order to form a more perfect union." And create the office of an elected President.

Trump will soon be unable to feed himself or talk to the press. After destroying nursing homes, he will wind up in one, with Melania as his conservator.

The Kaiser immediately set about destroying the peace of Europe, and finally had to abdicate in 1918. He lived long enough to see the rise of the Nazi government of Germany.

Ivana Trump's father was KGB. So it goes back to 1977 or earlier.

When the welfare check was done the front door was found open. Also, the dogs had a doggy door. So the two surviving dogs may have been outside when the Hackmans were gassed. Then the perpetrator returned to open the door and let the gas out. The autopsies are checking for CO poisoning.

The thing about the AfD is that they keep getting large, illegal donations from billionaires. This was exactly how the Nazi Party started in the 1920s.
comment in response to post
The Left Party improved its turnout. If you add up the Left, the Greens and the SPD, they are a larger plurality than either CDU or AfD. The CDU and the AfD together are 49% of the votes cast. So a right wing government is not workable, at the moment.

Since only the President has immunity for official acts, the quickest way to get Trump out of office would be to threaten Vance with criminal prosecution.

In 1820 a small standing army was established to handle native Americans. The sea change occurred with the War of Rebellion. Afterwards, the South was concerned enough about the US Army to pass the Posse Comitatus Act in 1878. So you can say the US had an effective peacetime standing Army post 1865.

The Continental Army was disbanded in 1783. The initial version of the Constitution gave Congress the power to raise an army and fund it for no more than two years. In 1798 the Provisional Army was established to fight France, and it was disbanded after the conflict.

Recreational sex is about what turns you on. People try to keep reproduction from happening. So, completely different.

Marriage is about making a stranger a member of your family. Falling in love is about keeping two people together for more than one night. In the case of a man and a woman, the point is reproduction. Which is also making a stranger part of your family.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Going forward, as human population drops and people deurbanize, people can keep small flocks of chickens to control insects as well as provide eggs and meat. Sorry billionaires! We can't afford your externalities.

The reason we have a bird flu problem is because we have flocks of thousands of birds. We have flocks of thousands of birds so that corporations can sell us chickens and other poultry. These large flocks accelerate mutations in bird flu. This is how we got the H1N1 pandemic.
