During WWII the US was transformed into a major industrial power with a dramatically stronger federal government. Many new institutions were created. Political power shifted across the population. Now Trump is systematically destroying those federal institutions.

Michael Wolff, in his latest book on Trump, said Musk and Thiel insisted Trump pick Vance as his running mate in order for Trump to get their support. IOW, Trump is a tool to get an unelectable Vance in the White House. Given the way Vance is acting, that tool may break soon.

Germany became a single nation state in 1870 because of a genius, Prince Otto von Bismarck. Europe had 20 years of peace due to Bismarck's international balancing act. Bismarck was fired by Kaiser Wilhelm II, who was the exact opposite of Bismarck.

I see that in the recent German parliamentary election the Left Party got 8.8 %, while the FDP got 4.3 %. That means the FDP, which was part of the ruling Coalition, is now out of Parliament. The FDP agenda is most like the US's political programs. The Left Party was the Communist Party.
