My non-religious secular family this winter season has already donated to and supported several local Utah charities and good causes. Unlike many residents in Kaysville and Fruit Heights, we did not ask ourselves "what will this do to the value of our house" when we chose to help others in need.

I watched the Utah religiously inclined side of the family pile into a van and head up to Idaho to play the lottery. The secular ones with advanced degrees including in math and science noped right out of that idea. Did the position on gambling taught to me in church during the 1980's change?
